ICE agents detained Gilberto Garcia Cruz—an autistic 26-year-old DACA man—outside his South Florida home; his family are understandably worried about his safety & care in custody. (As are we.)
ICE is *not* supposed to detain DACA recipients. This is targeted intimidation.

Someone get David Attenborough narrating this stat!
Basically my point, like silently said, is if you need to teach BOAN you don't need to teach it straight, and you need to teach it in historical context.
When my film history 101 professor came to BOAN he instead showed us Rebirth of a Nation from the experimental hip hop artist DJ Spooky. He used VJ techniques to make what we would now call a video essay. It showcased how the new film techniques of BOAN were used to support its racism.
My most selfish opinion about this war, as a film school graduate, is we better not destroy one of the best film scenes in the world. (Obviously, I want the US to stop all destruction in Iran)
Sure, I spent the '80s watching action movies that were mostly military revenge fantasies about the Middle East. But then I went to college and spent the '90s watching movies mostly about Tehran schoolgirls trying to accomplish various simple tasks. The Iranian New Wave would fix a lot of people.
Seriously! I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and I love Wisconsin, and want all the Wisconsin teams to win. But, I lived in Minnesota for 2 years, and I can confirm The Twin Cities are filled with the best people in the Union.
I feel crazy. Just sitting around waiting to find out if our lunatic President is going to begin a world war for no reason. What does one do in these situations? What do I have for lunch? Do I take a Zyrtec if my eyes are watering? Moment to moment, what do I do?
Now if this leads to a campaign for Milwaukee to lose the Bucks, I will become Lebron's biggest hater. Bigger than Skip! But until then this is fine.
You're telling him his options for fun after a game is bar hopping on Brady, or — if you don't wanna be hassled by "regular" folk — it's room service and what's on TV in his room at The Pfister (the only hotel approved for NBA teams to stay in). Yeah I would hate having to play in Milwaukee too.
I lived in Milwaukee for 5 years. I love Milwaukee. It's my favorite city, and the best city in the summer. The thing is, it doesn't really have any exclusive hot spots, that the rich and famous can go to and hide. And I'm sure that sucks as the most famous player in the NBA.
I love that his whole thing is “I did it before I had a campaign.” Right, three months before you announced. Same with Janet. Meanwhile I was president of a women’s health center and championed their expansion to include services for trans folks in 2015 when I was 27. We’re not the same.
I was gonna say he probably wouldn't be as dominant under the rim. But then I realized, if he was 5 in. shorter he would be the exact same height as Giannis. So no I think he would still be elite, since he can do so much more than most big men.
Well, at least there are more fans than at "Wrigley North" watching The Brewers! Oh wait...

But to your point it has definitely happened less in my life.
This might not fit because it was uncanceled, but I don't remember Family Guy being a phenomenon until after it was cancelled and adult swim started airing reruns.
I also get nervous, that memes like this can start someone on a pipeline to believe in "Aspie Supremacy".
👇🎯 If NYT journalists knew what Scott Walker & Robin Vos had done for a decade in Wisconsin before Trump, nothing the far right authoritarian party is doing now nationally would have been a surprise. Much easier to always write about Harvard & blame DC Democrats for not being moderate enough.

As a younger Millennial, I feel for every generation after us. We at least got to live in the 90s. Every generation after us has just had to live the shit. Plus we (along with the youngest gen x's) adopted social media first, which has led to so many childhood rituals moving online.
As a Chicago wrestling fan, I can tell you they priced out a lot of Chicago wrestling fans. I feel like there are a lot of casual fans in the building tonight, who yeah have no clue who he is.
As an American I will add, many of us have only heard of Tourettes because of problematic pop culture portrayals. For example, the South Park episode where Cartman pretends to have Tourettes, is how myself and a lot of people my age first learned about Tourettes.
Wasn't this one of Brandon Johnson's campaign promises? I remember thinking, out of all of them, paying people to shovel should be the easiest to get done. I'm glad Mamdani is showing it is.
My theory is that larger distributors didn't buy it, in the first place, so as not to risk pissing off any AI company they might work with. And it fell to Briarcliff. Because GOOD LUCK is the perfect Lionsgate film, but Lionsgate is going all in on AI.
Deadline has an article about how GOOD LUCK was financed and marketed. Since it was distributed by a relatively small indie, Briarcliff, it sounds like they focused on stunts hoping they would go viral. Yes, algorithms might have suppressed those posts, but I also think they didn't connect.
Almost everything now happening at the federal level now has a direct antecedent in Wisconsin GOP politics under Scott Walker & Robin Vos in 2008-25. The lying. The defunding. The violating laws & norms. The demonizing some people as not being part of the Herrenvolk. It was all here first.
A Chicagoan.
Though to be fair a lot of CST markets show Jeopardy in the late afternoon, since primetime starts at 7 pm here. That way they can still have local news at 6 pm followed by Wheel at 6:30.
What are your rights if you live where Jeopardy airs in the afternoon, 3 hours before Wheel?
We learned from Chicago and Portland. Yall learn from them plus Minnesota. All you fascists bound to lose.
Very very different
