Five Trump Scandals You’ve Probably Missed Swirling scandals—from the Pentagon to DHS to the IRS to the Labor Department—that represent basic betrayals of public office, trust, and confidence-in-leadership that should be the table stakes of go...

Washington can only pay attention to a scandal or two at a time, which means in the Trump age there are all sorts of should-be-big-deal scandals that don’t get the oxygen or media focus that they should.

I'll bet you've missed at least three of these: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/five-trump...

The stone helps the steel, and sometimes the steel helps the stone. Each by taking off some of the pieces that keep the other from being what they need to be that day.

Sets one to thinking.

There's no shame in tongs being on the other side of the "rather spend the money than the time" line. There are people who can make them cheaper and better than I can, and I'm happy to let them.

If you're worried about the state of the world all the time and need some peace my suggestion would be to make both your work and hobbies things that if you lose focus for a brief moment you could injure yourself in ways yet to be discovered by modern medicine

Looks like one of the OG long-suffering federal judges (Beryl Howell) will continue to suffer, this time about the Presidential Records Act.

Impeachment and removal is an easier lift in the House (requires only a majority, not 2/3) and is certainly justified. Is there a reason you're pushing for 25th amendment instead, other than it would require even more Republicans to acknowledge the situation before it can happen?

It's not like there's a shortage of high crimes and misdemeanors. The personal corruption, grabbing of the power of purse from Congress, corruption of DoJ, and ordering war crimes (off the top of my head). If R's need a fig leaf, his obvious cognitive decline works. But he's a straight-up crook.

The metaphor I landed on was that existence right now is like welding. When I'm welding, I need to wear a welding helmet and gloves. They not only protect me against injury, but also allow me to see and do the work properly.

Wife just told me this one:

What’s the difference between Iran and Vietnam?

Trump had a plan to get out of Vietnam.

I’m not telling you which one is edible. You’ll just have to get your own Fudgsicle and piece of chert and try it yourself. (Not responsible for cracked teeth or brain freeze)

One is a Fudgsicle. One is a chunk of radiolarian chert.

One is tasty, the other is not.

Both look chocolatey, though one isn’t.

If you visit a uranium hexafluoride plant, the uranium is a distant third on your list of short-term concerns. (Fluorine gas, and the HF they use to make it, are numbers 1 and 2.)

US Mint takes down video of meeting criticizing proposed Trump 24K gold coin A coin advisory committee called the design for the America 250 coin something only produced by "kings or dictators."

“We're celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, which was the document that enabled a revolution against kings w/ a coin that has an image of a living president of our country—that is a slap in the face to the founders, & a statement to the world that [Trump] is a king.”

Wow. That seems like it has the making for just obscene levels of corruption. Like a pitch to come serve your country in the US Kleptocracy Corps.

Democrats ask what happened to millions earmarked for Trump’s library ABC, Meta, Paramount and X reportedly agreed to pay at least $63 million in settlements with the president. The original fund was dissolved last year.

Big Tech and Big Media donated some $63 million to a Trump-aligned nonprofit that was set up to help finance Trump's presidential library.

Now the nonprofit has disappeared and with it the money.

Three guesses on where it's gone.

I swear every dystopian tech development is like "Hey, are you OK with being this much not-a-person in our eyes? How about this much? One or two? <clicking noises> OK, how about now—one or two?" like I'm at the devil's optometry office.

Just the first-order effects on markets is a huge lever. The world uses about 100 million bbl/d of crude oil. Crank that price up by $20/bbl and you're up to $2B/day users are paying. Not to mention the direct costs to the Gulf state budgets of cutting production.
