To add: 'Grunt work' is important when you're new. You don't even realize the things you learn about processes during repetition, but it is vital for you to build intuition. You get a "feel" for the work.

Without it you'll have no idea how to change direction without being at square one every time.

If you rely on generative AI for a creative process, it means you're ready to relinquish control of the work to a tool that cannot think, and that means you don't actually give a shit.

Do it, or get someone who knows what they're doing to do it for you. Some'one', not some'thing'.

Doing concept art at a studio has caused me to instinctually show EVERYTHING when I draw, so whenever I want to make something dynamic I have to actively fight my brain.
Concept art is opposed to good smut, where the interesting parts are often implied and accented rather than directly shown.

Compounding stresses perhaps? You've been putting in a lot of effort informing people of causes that matter to you. So I bet you spend time in keeping up with that stuff. Being upset over what's going on in the world even in the background can make small added things too much.

In other words: Because I intended to just do a test, I didn't really do anything interesting with the idea. It's not dynamic, pose and composition isn't interesting. Zero perspective going on. There's a few bits that worked out on an idea level but requires something more to really execute on it.

It's in part that last bit for sure lol

To analyze a bit: This was a test of old and new things. Brushes, technique. To see if combining them is of any use. So the end result was going to be a mystery, but I also did not prepare the early stages as well as I should. Started feeling it later on.
