The fourth and final episode of our Virtual Boy retrospective - "Virtual Insanity" - is up now on YouTube! In which '3D Tetris' steals the show in the worst way, Nester gets Funky with it, and the limits of 3D are pushed in the red dimension. youtu.be/zaXAoyMSbBA

Our playthrough of 'Snake's Revenge' is up now on YouTube! Come see Konami learn an important lesson about trying to develop Metal Gear games without Kojima's involvement -- a lesson they'd surely take to heart and not soon forget. youtu.be/t5lk_8DFr5M
Our "Games from the Doghouse" theme night is up now on YouTube! In which Beethoven hits a flat note, All Dogs go to DOS Hell, and Ashens shows up to give us ZX Spectrum tech support. It's a Dog's Life, folks. youtu.be/sMhSuyBiKmk
Given its reputation as one of the worst games of all time, I contend that this oft-misunderstood title deliberately subverts the art form -- serving as a commentary on the very nature of video games. Perhaps that's just the mad scientist in me talking? www.badgamehalloffame.com/dr-jekyll-an...
'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde' released on this day in 1988.
A continuation of the famous novella, which sees an utterly defenseless Dr. Jekyll who is attacked repeatedly en route to his wedding. Alternately playing as Mr. Hyde, you must deal with evil spirits from the Makai.

You can watch us ship this game off to Abu Dhabi as part of our "Garfield Streams His Heart Out" special: youtu.be/gyyrUDcjGwY?...
'A Week of Garfield' released on this day in 1989.
In which the world's most famous tabby cat ventures forth in search of his least favorite canine companion. Featuring mice, spiders, hidden objects, and a knife-throwing alley cat hell-bent on murder. Let's challenge.
It's my birthday today, and my present to myself is linking to my Throne page.
I've got two categories there if you feel like checking it out; one for things that will help with future Bad Game Hall of Fame streams, and one that's just for things I want personally.

Our second "nStarCube nShowCase" is up now on YouTube! Join us for scalding hot water ghosts, vTubers fighting in the streets, and the culmination of a three-year multi-game story arc about orcs and bikini girls. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQkM...
'Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons' released on this day in 2013.
A barely-functional remake of the original DDII. After allegedly having been shelved for two years, the version released still runs at single digit framerates, and is lousy with ill-advised design choices.
If you can divorce the game from a decade-plus of "YouTube Poops" and its odd place in Nintendo's history, you'll find yourself left with a largely competent (albeit not particularly exciting) puzzle platformer.
'Hotel Mario' released on this day in 1994.
Developed by Philips' Fantasy Factory as part of a licensing arrangement with Nintendo; Hotel Mario has since become infamous for its animated cutscenes, and gameplay inconsistent with player expectations for a Mario game.

'Kinect Star Wars' released on this day in 2012.
Originally presented as full-body Jedi action simulator, across spectacular E3 stage show appearances. The final product instead wound up as a glorified minigame compilation, plagued by unresponsive and limited input all around.
The second (and final) episode of our 'Colossal Cave' playthrough is up now on YouTube! In which we count the ways that the Williams' did wrong by their fans, by games history, and by their own stupid legacies they're so obsessed over. youtu.be/PA-8WIx5Q1w
It's the fourth image in the third post in the thread, but here it is standalone for you:
Hilariously - despite consciously marketing the game as being in "bad taste" / directly to edgelords - Chris was somehow frustrated to discover that digital storefronts had no interest in distributing his game -- posting through it for months until itch(.)io finally let it go up on their service.
It should be noted that in 2026 a "sequel" to HK97 was developed and released by the former 'Ultra Healthy Video Game Nerd' -- a personal friend of / hanger-on to / apologist for Kurosawa (after initially securing a sit-down interview with him for his YouTube channel some years ago).
We discuss the origins of the game and the bewildering beliefs of its creator in our in-depth article on the game: www.badgamehalloffame.com/hong-kong-97/
'Hong Kong 97' released on this day in 1995.
An unlicensed ode to bad taste for the Super Famicom, developed and distributed by provocateur "Kowloon" Kurosawa. Designed deliberately to be as offensive as possible on all fronts, and to be sold via mail order to BBS users.
'Shura no Mon' released on this day in 1998.
Based on the martial arts manga of the same name, Shura no Mon attempts to deliver on "realistic" karate-based fighting gameplay. It's also a game devoid of any animation fluidity, visual fidelity, or mechanical fluency.
We've been waiting on some sort of English localization patch for 'TOMAK: Save the Earth' to come out since we first encountered it in the course of a PS2 "Games From a Hat" episode (www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MFg...). Whod've thunk it'd just show up for free on the Epic Games Store?
