After recording the latest ep of the 100 Guitarists pod (w @jasonshadrick.bsky.social), I’ve been thinking a lot about Sonny Sharrock’s Ask the Ages and how great those songs are! Here’s a six-guitar arrangement of “As We Used to Sing.” Go check out the episode wherever you find your podcasts.
Talking about sonic mastermind Sonny Sharrock on this week’s 100 Guitarists podcast, and how avant jazz guitar is easier for rock listeners to relate to. @jasonshadrick.bsky.social

From a ‘93 Kurt Cobain interview with Fender Frontline comes this excellent answer:
What comes to mind for you when it’s time for the guitar to cut loose?
KURDT: Less than you could ever imagine.
Super tight big riff with direct-to-interface fuzz pedal tones, unison vibes with guitar, bass, and drum machine. Crunchy!

I just learned that the guy who invented Tupperware is named Earl Tupper.
“Sitting in the sweet spot between a pair of vintage Fenders, I conjured a Twin Peaks-inspired hazy fog….” Read my review of the ethereal Old Blood Dark Star Stereo now at premierguitar.com and in our May print issue.
Yes!!!! You already know exactly how it sounds hahahaha
The next Tom Scholz? Today I recorded at Cambridge Sound with Ben Mulholland using this amazing 1983 Les Paul into an MXR Rockman.
New demo. I put the phaser on everything and cranked it right to 🪐. Too much or just right?

Last year, I released Moon Pulses on @islandhouserecs.bsky.social, my ode to ambient guitar, and I’ve broken out my Boss Slicer to head back to space. If you’re in Philly, I’ll be doing this live for the first time this Sunday at Dahlak with Dave McDonnell’s Fifth World and KooF I.B.
Such an honor to talk to one of the most important guitar heroes of all (and certainly of mine), Dr. Brian May!

Help me out:
Tomorrow, we’ll be recording a new episode of 100 Guitarists, and I have to convince @jasonshadrick.bsky.social that Peter Buck is one of the 100 guitar players we all need to know. I feel like I’ve got this, but I could use everything you’ve got.

Just heard that Bob Dylan didn’t see his shadow this morning so that’s six more years of touring
Excellent book!
Just wanted to give another boost to this excellent compilation released this week by @islandhouserecs.bsky.social to support the MusiCares LA Relief Fund. Lots of great music on here! I contributed a two-part Guided By Voices tribute track called “Closer to the Game.”
It was one of those musical experiences that felt so special and magical that I was reminded I was exactly where I was supposed to be doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing. On my mental list of projects I have yet to do, doing a Sons of the Pioneers record with Susan and Ron sat near the top
Fast forward 13 years: I’d always wanted to hear her play some country tunes, so in 2022, when @ronstabinsky and I released The Sounds of Grassy Sound, we invited Susan to join us on two Sons of the Pioneers we’d been playing.
One instance that sticks out is her set at the New Atlantis Fest in DC in 2009. In the middle of a raucous, long bill, she captivated and silenced the audience, who sat figurative jaws agape under her spell.
Susan Alcorn’s music was so truly beautiful and so deserved celebration, and it really saddens me that I’m celebrating her playing today because she passed away. As long as I’ve seen her perform, and in every situation, Susan sprinkled magic and wonder.
This tour was so inspiring.
So inspiring!!!!
