Oh, weβre just doing this now?
OK
This video becomes relevant again every now and then, today is one of those days,

Thanks very much @laurimyllyvirta.bsky.social
Woo hoo! More clean energy at public power!
I'll look forward to meeting the new leaders at an APPA or NARUC conference in the future.
I have long said that *using* solar (and using the inexpensive, clean energy that is produced) is more important than *making* panels. Some level of production for supply chain resilience and strategic reasons makes sense, but if we can get inexpensive panels from another country, we should.
@chrisnelder.bsky.social during this episode, Lauri mentioned,
"about 3/4 of the value is in the country where the export takes place"
Do you have citation for the distribution of benefits between manufacturing solar panels, and the rest of the value chain?
Thx for the update, I knew you would have the best info whenever it becomes available.
@spears.bsky.social, the SRP page about elections is... confusing, even by electric utility governance website standards.
Are you planning to post a summarized view of the results when they become publicly available? Or is there another place you would refer interested people to check and follow?

I have a suggestion for how to use the land that won't be planted with corn this year, and good news... you'll get HUNDREDS of times better overall outcome by switching.

Bonus: Although extremely unlikely, I am statistically not eliminated from winning my office bracket pool.
Double celebration from me.
More and more people keep showing up. Seems like about 5,000 are here and getting ready for the march at 3pm.

That is official now?
And weβre gonna break the record by like 5+*F tomorrow, right?

I hope the bollard is OK
Itβs been right there the whole time.
Those who are rich and powerful from large centralized fossil energy were always most interested systems that concentrate wealth. Fossil fuels have been a convenient mechanism, and theyβll be glad to swap to another when the coal, oil, gas lose social license.
Using βprime farmlandβ for corn to make ethanol is a horrendously terrible system.
Literally *hundreds* of times worse than solar + EVs at the end outcome.
Convert a quarter of your corn to solar and do anything (or nothing) with the rest. Youβll be MUCH better off.

Many (most) discussions about geothermal and nuclear completely ignore the downsides of a hyper-concentrated ownership model. They are owned by a few, with sale (at profit) to everyone else.
Distributed renewable energy is democratized power, both electric and societal.
Clean energy. Local power.
Give. Us. The. R3 !!!
We are now in the Platform Lockin Enshitification future that literally no one wants
Charged my EV at work today for 32 kWh as prices were negative and SPP was ~60% wind.
Already on my calendar to charge Saturday night at home.
Iβve been explaining the importance of flexible EV charging to my Board colleagues at the utility. I gotta keep at it, still donβt have a policy in place.
Screen capture showing LMP for ERCOT, CAISO, and SPP all below zero dollars, with primary sources as solar and wind.
ERCOT, CAISO, and SPP all currently have negative LMP with majority sources being solar and wind. SPP is curtailing (wasting) free clean energy because it is not deliverable to load.
Meanwhile, NYISO: $115/mWh
Build. More. Transmission.

Worlds are colliding. I'm not sure if I've listened to more hours of podcasts from @petersagal.bsky.social or @volts.wtf over the years, both definitely in my top 5. This is a team up that must have an exceptionally narrow but exceptionally interested set of followers.
