Nope! It happened and was very real.
This is the last thing I could've ever expected to see you post lmao
By no context, I mean you don't even travel to Mordor and climb the Tower of Barad-Dur. You just... show up!
Since it follows the plot of the films you already know what's going on, but nope! You fight god now at max bloom with EAX of Sauron screaming at you lol

Someone on the other site posted this vid of LotR: TTA. I think about this game sometimes as the first FF style JRPG I played and I laugh because the final boss is literally the Eye of Sauron.
There's no context to how you reach it. You fight god, as is tradition, while everyones at the Black Gate.
I hate how I look at my eldar and can't even decide what I want to them to be because I like all the craftworlds except saim hann, only because I don't want every army I paint to be red LOL
So, Imma ask for some thoughts on Eldar;
I have a box of Void-scarred Corsairs and I know I wanna put together the wayseeker and soul weaver, but I dunno what I want to do with the others... Kinda indecisive.
I don't even know what to paint them... -_-
It's quiet.
It's quiet.
New ork weirdboy
Me when I don't get my coffee and threaten to turn someone into a mcgriddle
anyways thank you for coming to my tedd talk I will likely be thrown into a mixer bowl for having an opinion but that's ok because I feel like whipped cream already so what's another round of whipping gonna do to me
It's a multi-faced problem we're all seeing from different angles.
But after seeing multiple editions now and been subject to the same arguments over and over, it could be as simple as 'everything that's old is new again' and we're all witness to a cycle resetting,
Or laziness. Either can be true.
The fact the vanguard design they did post is the most blandest and safest thing they could've posted. Maybe they're trying to catch leakers out internally, I have no idea.
They're also mono-pose push fits, meaning the 'real kit' is likely down the line so all this criticism means nothing...
I will say that my theory here is not the main one.
There's lots of nuance to factor in, from the drip-feeding of marketing by showing one model at a time, the poor choice of paint colours (because let's face it, boy scout blue actually is more marketable than bright fucking red and gold),
Additionally, we're getting new Ork Boyz since the previous ones were very publicly outspoken for being badly thought through,
So I wonder if this is a 'hey sorry we screwed up here's a better thing', hence why I suggested maybe it's an apology of sorts?
The difference with me is I'm not entirely nostalgia-pilled and more open to change, hence being a big chaos enjoyer.
So I wonder maybe this is trying to appeal to that particular demographic, while also introducing it to newer players and existing hobbyists brought on board over the past decade.
A lot of those 90s/2000s kids are also the same people who got shitty at the Primaris design for not being like the one they've known for years.
I came to know 40k through Dawn of War in 2005, a game that very much uses the darth vader grill all over the place. We basically grew up on that.
So if that's always been the case, then why do this at all?
Why commodify something we've always had the means to do ourselves through our own creativity?
The conclusion I come to is that it makes GW look good. They appear more apologetic to 90s/2000s heads like me who grew up with this design.
I suspect they might be extending it to every space marine release now. A huge issue is the fact primaris ARE suffering from looking generic due to oversaturation, so the new helmets will help with that.
But we've been doing this via kit-bashing for years. We're even encouraged to do so...
The older Sternguard Veterans
A lot of people I think were very receptive of the old helmets being added for this particular reason, even when the redesigns are less gaudy compared to the old.
So the thought just occurred to me; are they doing the same thing here? Adding the older helmets in recognition of the past?
Leviathan release Sternguard Veterans.
I look at the Sternguard, and recently the Red Corsairs, and a big reason I like them is because they have the old AND the new designs.
There's a bit of reverence for the past when also embracing the new era. 40k is full of its own history, and it's cool to see it all together, like a tapestry.
Ever since the original release of the Primaris nearing 10 years ago, we've seen people complain about the modern designs so much it's become white noise at this point.
But I wonder if this is trying to gain favour with the despondent who hated the new designs by using the older helmets?
I made the mistake on the other site expressing my frustration at 'we're here yet again about model designs and nobody has learned anything', I ended up deleting it.
But I hadn't reconsidered 'who is this made for?' because it's a starter edition box, but now I wonder...
Is it an apology?

My Fuegan model
Bob Cohoon's recent Golden Demon Fuegan model.
Man I gotta lock in... So much to learn from Bob's entry.
Black under armour! He got rid of the tassels and the flag for a simpler cloth on the barrel. Non metallic metal... lots to think on.
Big Sigmar doesn't want you to know but the war surgeon has a great ass
but you didn't hear that from me!
