Your reasonable suspicion might be spot on… just sayin’

My extended family once setup a camcorder at a family diner to capture all of the hilarious things we said. Turns out that 99.9% of what we laughed at was only funny or interesting in the moment. We were no Keaton family. And it felt creepy. So it only happened once.
After having worked with someone in the past that loved Pinker… this all tracks.
Oh wait - girlfriend! Just one girlfriend 😂
“we want your big moment to feel personal and accurate” so we… removed the person? Plano is where my girlfriends lives. Lots of people working in the tech sector live there. I’m kind of surprised at how much Ai skepticism there is there. And glad.
Tweet from Senate Republicans that says “Birthright citizenship for illegal aliens isn't compassion—it's a national security loophole. President Trump is closing it. Democrats are fighting to keep it wide open.”
Human beings are notorious national security threats the first few years after birth. Why do you think they call it the “terrible twos”?
Many of us get accused of intentionally looking for this stuff, with the implication being that we find it because we want to. It is worth noting that people who don’t go specifically looking for the eugenics baked into Ai also find it quickly as well.
This isn’t the win people think it is. When a Republican politician bans screen time because it “poisons kids minds” - they mean it lets them access “woke” content, LGBTQA+ materials, etc. They found that book bans weren’t enough.
I think you mean the top 12 most popular languages - there are hundreds of languages and 12 is not “most.” But from what little I studied Arabic a few decades ago I can tell you it is really messed up. No need for any words in English for one, and the word order in the sentences is all wrong.
Don’t worry now that rivers are running dry - all of those “Ai queries use less water than…” bros know where we can find all kinds of water… Right guys? Hello?
I know the answer to this, but how are fancy pattern recognition bots going to replicate random things breaking and needing replacement? A friend telling you something you should get out of the blue? All the randomness of why humans really buy things? Ugh.
Another day, another “big” step. GenAI could have walked to the moon and back with all of these big steps toward autonomous agents. But still not there, huh? It’s almost as if… nah, couldn’t be.
Important point to keep in mind. Those that are on here putting Ai critics / haters / etc on block lists saying we want to "deny assistive tech like GPTs" need to learn what real accessibility requires.
Voter suppression happening live in Dallas, TX. Too many Democrats shrugging because it helps their person win. Then they will wonder why turn out is so low in November. Acceptance of voter suppression spreads voter apathy faster than Colbert appearances spread enthusiasm.
GenAI doesn’t make stuff up though, not in the sense that humans make up stuff. It is just pattern recognition and completion that can only operate within the confines of its training data. Your prompt is just a word pattern to it, which it just tries to complete in the most likely (generic) pattern
Oh man - if “you just need to learn how to be more mindful with Ai to like it” becomes the new “you just need to prompt better to like it,” then I am going to, well… need a lot of mindfulness to not do anything rash…
People in Texas actually say we have never seen anyone like James Talarico. When you point out Beto, they just say “he never got money from other states, never went on talk shows, never got GOP endorsements, etc.” But he actually did… all of that. Sheesh.
We are given reasons why the candidate has to be able to reach across the aisle, and then they run one that does, and then that candidate loses because people are tired of giving into ridiculous GOP demands. We desperately need a fighter to stand up and rally people, not compromise and back track.
Most evangelicals don’t consider the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to be “real” Christians. On the other hand, too many are underestimating how his faith will be a deal breaker for others.
I have given up on TX Dems mostly. I will still vote, but it will be pointless. Every two years it’s the same:
I am religious but stopped going to church, one of the reasons being too many sermons on why Democrats can never be Christians. Always attacking Jimmy Carter. Ran into that in multiple denominations. There is no way Talarico is going to get the Christian vote outside of the few that are already Dem.
Texas politics is always a depressing game of Groundhog Day. Despite a long history of never winning with white dudes (O'Rourke twice, Sadler, Nelson, etc, etc), people still say Democrats have to pick the white dude again in order to win.
Yeah, I talk to people who are forced to use current Ai tools all the time. Currently writing up some of these conversations. It’s only gotten worse since 2022-2023. All of them wish they could go back to 2023 ChatGPT that was only 75% wasting their time, rather than the 100% waste it is now.
Texas being Texas. Yes, this is a violation of student privacy laws, but since when does ICE care about following laws? cc @hypervisible.blacksky.app www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...
If you hated that Ring ad, have I got a book for you.
But I’m guessing we are going to be digging up layer upon layer of awesome deeper meaning from that Bad Bunny half time show for a long time.
That MAHA commercial was layer upon layer of garbage.
Love this so much! “Her ferocious attack cat by her side!”
All of my friends in tech that have been given access to Copilot are trying to avoid it like the plague. Takes too long to fix the slip it produces.
