I started reading X-Men from issue number one on Marvel Unlimited, and I found a new appreciation for Juggernaut and Cyclops. I found beast to be irritating from the jump (probably because I was like that at some point in my life).
But his characterization hasn't changed much, just more extreme.
Fox was embarrassed about the camp of superheroes.
You really have no idea.
The only time Beast wasn't a stodgy verbose pedant was the first three issues of X-Men before his personality gelled.
FoX-Men did so much damage to the X-Men.
It also has to deal with emotional manipulation that Jean was put through by both Mastermind and Professor X.
It can be done. But that's not how it will be done. So Disney and the MCU should not touch it.

It is possible to adapt the Phoenix saga. It just can't be done in one movie or a few episodes of a show. It also needs to be more than "Jean Grey goes cRaZy." It has to embrace the comic book camp. It has to involve the destruction of the D'bari system.
