just in case you were wondering, yes, this describes nearly everything i've published in the last couple years. i leave it to you to figure out which of the gross bits are the fetish ones and which aren't. rest assured any charitable interpretation of my fascinations will fall apart under scrutiny

it doesn't even have to be something as specific as a deadline. chain brushes and tree stamps et al are for when you want a piece of art to be "done", whether it's a draft or an unimportant background element. sometimes the effort calculus of drawing a bunch of grass is really, really bad

conflating what you need to survive as a career artist with what you need to improve artistically has kind of been a disaster. every argument about fx and stamp brushes is resolved when you realise those are made so that you can survive a weekly release schedule or do mockups on a deadline
