Observations of Deviance with David Mittleman presents Way Way Out: Quiet Storm Avant-Garde Jazz (1948-1965), the cool side of out Jazz on vintage vinyl. Eighteen vintage vinyl tracks from OoD host David Mittleman's collection. The mix traces the secret history of Free Jazz, the filp-side to Fire Music. Rare tracks by Sun Ra, Buddy Collette's Swinging Shepherds, MJT + 3, Jimmy Giuffre and more. The cover art is by noted designer Darryl Norsen. He's designed cover art for labels like Eremite, Numero Group, Light in the Attic and many more. His art work "flips" the cover of the MJT + 3 album, "Daddy-O Presents MJT + 3" (Argo 1957). Darryl generously donated his time/work to this project. Enjoy!
