@lgilbert.co told me about this magazine a few days ago and my first thought was: when can I publish here?

Check it out, for development researchers, policy makers, overthinkers, contrarians, the justice-minded, the word-obsessed, dreamers, and poets.

New in the American Economic Review: migration doesn't hollow out the home economy — it builds it up.

More than 75% of the long-run income gains from migration are domestic. The home economy itself grows.

Here's what we found: 🧵

On lead, Britain is the laggard of the developed world The UK’s exposure surveillance system for this public health menace is reactive — unlike elsewhere

We had an officer in my PhD cohort. He was smart and more importantly, had good taste in movies. He… did complain once we were all Democrats, but I think he gained from the experience & vice versa.

MPs and peers call for all UK children to be screened for lead Letter from lawmakers and academics comes after FT investigation reveals impact of toxic metal on human health

About 170,000 UK children are exposed to clinically significant levels of lead. Only about 250 of them will receive any intervention to reduce that exposure.

Six MPs and a Lord have signed an open letter suggesting we change that: www.ft.com/content/ee60...

The UK is terrifyingly ignorant when it comes to the problem of lead exposure. I've described it as a "don't ask, don't tell strategy".

So it's great to have got politicians, scientists, policy researchers and to endorse the call for a national child screening program

Jasmin Tendo Mpoza is a very special Malengo student: it turned out her high school degree was ineligible for university admission in Germany, and so she got a new one, remotely and studying by herself in Uganda. She is now getting a BA in International Business at Hochschule Anhalt, Germany.
