I really enjoyed @fhelvie.bsky.social's deep-dive interview with @brianmbendis.bsky.social covering criticism and analyzing comics.

This checks out.

There’s a point where Snyder & Co are pushing Batman to some visual extremes, but it’s more restrained than what I remember of the post-New 52 / Metal era, and I think it makes for a stronger Batman story.
1st issue done and it’s creative. Keeps a number of the core characteristics of the Batman mythos while mixing it up enough to be interesting. Definitely gives you enough to come back for the second issue.
Okay, giving this a try
My latest publication is out in The Routledge Companion to #Superhero Studies! I have the privilege of opening the book with Chapter One: Creators and the Creative Processes Behind #Comics.
@kellythompson.bsky.social SO want to go email 2015 Kelly and tell her about this year’s Ringos!-)
Batman: The Last Halloween brings me right back to Loeb and Sale’s original time together. And a true murderers row of artists to pay tribute to one of comics’ best artists.

I miss writing comics reviews. I'm not sure how I'd even get back into the game again though.
It’s a great visual lesson of what happens when you get too close the subject.
“Almost Famous” is required watching for anyone who wants to be a pop culture critic.
“Don’t forget the rules, man. This little shit is the enemy. He writes what he sees.…”
Looking forward to sharing Chapter 3 next week on my #DevNotes blog, but for the weekend crowd, I thought I'd give a sneak preview of the cover I've designed.
Look for the complete book to be released later this summer!

This summer, DevNotes will be taking on a different direction, one where I hope you'll join me for the ride as I begin an in-depth exploration of artificial intelligence in the classroom -- or what I'm calling the "ghost." What will this look like? Read on!

Formatting the final draft of the collection and then a book that’s been 13 years in the making will be done.
Yup. They clipped one of my books.
@oeming.bsky.social on a creator owned fantasy comic is a slam dunk.
Morning headlines: Favorite author ends up being inhuman, people grappling (poorly) with AI, and new reports confirm incoming president is still the worst.
Yeaaaah. I’m taking the day off from social media.
Pull list pick up writer shout out! Not a bad way to say adieu to 2024.

That is *magnificent*
Hard to perfect #Tolkien’s work, but I wouldn’t have been sad to see this in the appendices.
Spent a three-hour red eye flight being elbowed by someone who lacked any sense of personal space & when I mentioned this to them, the confusion was palpable.
And also, the elbowing failed to cease.
🤦♂️
Did they … just cheer for the live cremation of their friend?!?
Beauty of the medium. I remember as a kid going from Larry Hama’s mind blowing GI Joe #21 to Chris Claremont’s X-Men. Soooo different, soooo amazing.

On the other hand, this comic was clearly a love letter to old school horror films, so I kind of feel like experiencing it in b&w added something special to the mix.
Finally (and much too slow in doing so) read @ssnyder1835.bsky.social & @ffrancavilla.bsky.social The Ghoul.
I’m traveling and only had my black & white Kindle Scribe, so on *one* hand, I experienced not as created

Traveling home tomorrow from winter family vacation and got the pitch doc for my next book prepped.
Next up: Finding the right publisher and then sending out personal invites to contributors and putting out a call for writers!
This book is 💯 a case of what Deadpool would look like playing Dungeons and Dragons.
Totally inappropriate and total fun.

I had 90% of all my final grading done by Tuesday morning and then inertia hit *hard*
