Having managed to let my lime and bay trees and my rosemary die, I’d have oregano, thyme, a few seasonal herbs in the erratic elusive Ōtepoti ‘summer’ and pears that fall off neighbours’ trees into my place. Detest pears

I did mine this morn and just dropped it off at supermarket when I did my groceries. Love having drop boxes everywhere

& thanks for posting the voting guide the other day @jdeheij.bsky.social, made voting a breeze!

TIL to use eucalyptus oil on a cloth or paper towel to wipe glue residue off plastic. No rubbing or scrubbing, just wipes right off!

Leaders like Polanski & Mamdani offer voters someone & something (policies) to vote for rather than against which is what Lab under Chippy seems to be relying on. Agree we need Lab for a left govt but right now I’m not hopeful

FFS but ofc there’s no money for carers, district nurses etc whose mileage rate hasn’t changed in years 🙄

Nah a campaign on actual policy will never happen. If they had to focus on policy Nat/Lab hopium & bribes would be trounced by evidence based, costed Greens policy. Neither Nat/Lab nor media will allow that to happen

Yup cos Jacinda made it look easy incl while pregnant & w a baby/small child. Remember they used to mock her as a part time PM? The hypocrisy is staggering

Also if he’s working those hours with no portfolio of his own and is never across anything he’s ever asked about, what the fuck is he doing all that time? Is he just so utterly stupid that it takes him way longer than it should to do anything?

How nice for him to have a safe place to go home to after spending every day making sure so many of our vulnerable folks don’t have a safe place and/or a home

I like mayo in small amounts as a condiment & tried using it instead of butter once on a toastie. I’m firmly in the ewww camp.
Did wonder after this weeks US butter at PnS discourse if mayo is preferable to US butter on toasties cos the butter is so vile 🤔

I’m so confused by yr posts. I shld want 2 beat NACT1 so shld demand more from ‘my’ leaders & u care about not ‘I’m alright Jacks’ but u won’t vote against NACT1 anymore
Voting & demanding more aren’t mutually exclusive
We’re going rnd in circles now so I’m gonna leave it here
Hope u do vote

Because this term we’ve seen the actual alternative & many people will not survive another term of it and the impact on our environment will be felt for decades
When I vote I choose based on whats best for the whole of our country. Another NACT1 term is definitely not it

We do seem to hv diff ideas of perfect I’d rather have Greens in govt pushing LW policies, you’d rather hv curr numpties stay in govt rather than Greens compromise at all. Which is better for most of country px & environ)? If u don’t vote against NACT1 which is us is really throwing folks under bus

Low income workers, disabled, science, universities & education generally, H&S, immigrants & the environment. We’d get back supports to transition from fossil fuels. How quickly we’d get that & how much more we get is influenced by how many Green MPs we get

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

Yeah sadly I agree, they are centrist at best & well to the right of their beginnings. Overton window has been careening right for years. That said, in comparison to what we’re currently enduring they are a far better option. What we’d be getting is fewer attacks on Māori, Pasifika, women…

MMP isn’t perfect, I’d def favour combo MMP/STV (we’d likely get way more Green electorate MPs) but we’ve for extreme eg in USA right now of risk of not holding your nose to vote against the bigger risk cos a party doesn’t meet your expectations

Seems that way to me too David given Sara’s replies to my comment. Curr Labour do what Sara seems to suggest (going after Green voters) & all that does is make left parties look dysfunctional as a potential coalition

Great idea! I always used to make my leftovers into quesadilla but those seem way more practical!
I reckon there might be a few at charity shops around the motu
Also: poor deprived Americans, they miss out on so many of the best convenience foods

UK Greens in FPP environ, v diff to MMP in way parties must wk w ea other (or not). Is v much “us v them” thing in UK so party “bottom lines” make sense. We’ve only had 1 non-coalition govt under MMP & none of us want a repeat of Covid to provide those conditions again so ultimatums don’t work here

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

Same! I don’t need to go to space to understand this either & constantly disappointed at framings of “us v them” for climate related issues, use of resources, immigration etc. there is no “them”. There’s just all of us (flora, fauna, fungi etc) being put at risk in pursuit of (made up) money

The coalition of chaos is absolutely intent on making schools unfriendly to Māori & Pasifika kids as poss. But pls consider what yr school is doing internally to make environment more supportive. If kids don’t fit the perfect mould are your teaching staff & SLT finding ways to support them?

2 weeks ago 1 0 1 0

Our school (suspect from quick Google is your school) was like stepping back to 1980s, more concerned w uniform than kids themselves. We’re a pakeha whānau but suspect neurodivergent kids face similar issues to Māori & Pasifika students. Everything designed for middle class neurotypical pakeha kids

Agree w all you’ve said but also was shocked when we moved to Ōtepoti few years ago how old fashioned schools are. We’d come from a school that truly wanted to keep kids engaged.
For those who were a bit lost, they wanted to keep them engaged til they made their way back to learning

That’s not what the crime is called in the Crimes Act. They’ll be using the specific legal term of what he was charged with. Sadly there are a range of very specific heinous crimes
