View at Erlanger Park, a newly-constructed multi-use venue that primarily serves as the home for the Chattanooga Lookouts minor league baseball team. Redevelopment of the former U.S. Pipe and Foundry site incorporated historic buildings into the new ballpark. This photo was taken on the opening night for the new ballpark. The perspective is from the concourse behind the left field lawn seating, looking towards the field. Beyond the playing field and behind the first baseline is the Pattern Shop building (long gray building) originally constructed in the 1930s. To the far left of the frame in the right field corner is the Powerhouse building (red building with exposed steel framing) originally constructed in the 1890s. "Lookout Home Run" is a nod to the mountain in the background and the namesake baseball team, the home run by Lookouts second baseman Dominic Pitelli immediately before this image was captured, and the successful completion of this iconic project.
