Using shot glasses for condiments is fine until you turn around and see your 21yo kid downing their leftover soy sauce like, no, child, why?

Just saw a bumper sticker that says ‘my other ride is a deteriorating body of flesh and bone’ and. Same, friend. Same.

Would a meteor be considered a galactic erratic? 🧐

Reading online about glacial erratics (glacially deposited rocks) and my brain keeps calling them galactic erratic instead. I'm embracing my inner galactic erratic! Also, I might need 'galactic erratic' on a t-shirt.

On the SFFChronicles forum today, a discussion of repeat motifs we use in writing. Mine:

1. Brazil-inspired elements
2. Insecure main characters
3. MCs who are technically supporting characters
4. Found family
5. A symbolic prop
6. Something in nature wants to eat you

I accidentally sent my finch to a spooky house for the day. Not sure how? But I’m here for it. Happy October!

That works up to a certain point, and then my brain goes, ‘wait a minute…’

Poison ivy is a sneaky sneaky plant. The sneakiest. Next time I’m doing this in a hazmat suit. Or at least jeans and a sweatshirt, with duct tape maybe to cover the gap between shirt and gloves! Zero stars, do not recommend.

Why do I have poison ivy rash, you might ask? Well. Because SOMEONE (me, it was me) thought they were adequately covered up while pulling said poison ivy from the garden. Spoiler alert: I was not

Today’s new low: holding my arm under the hot water tap so I can scratch the poison ivy rash without actually scratching it :/

That human insistence of anthropomorphizing everything; I just bumped the can of WD-40 on the doorframe and whispered “sorry, babe”!

So it’s been a month and I am happy to report that ghoul kid has taken up permanent residence by their garage. And is not, in fact, a sentient wandering being. I think. *eyes neighbor’s house nervously*

I taught my kids that song when they were little and my now-in-university daughter still occasionally sings it with the sole purpose of baffling American friends 😂

Aaaaand this morning it’s gone. Off for a little wander around the neighborhood I suppose. Let’s see where it turns up. (And yes, I am weirdly invested in this!)

Ghoul kid has moved! Is now at top of their driveway…

Ghoul-on-the-prowl maybe? But pronounce ghoul to rhyme with prowl…

Either it’s haunted or it’s the neighborhood’s weirdest version of elf on the shelf!!!

Last Halloween, my neighbors put out a knee-high statue of a squatting haunted demon ghoul child. It’s been sitting outside their door since then. Last week, it moved. First to their mailbox, then to their garbage cans, now it’s on the ground by their garage.

Been having trouble switching from one (completed) long-form project to another (brand-new), so am taking a short story break as a sort of 'palate cleanser'. Any other writers do this too?

Just spotted in the hotel lobby: a pint-sized child in a princess dress carrying a large orange life jacket. Prepared for all eventualities!
