Trump draws backlash for comment on Iran war: ‘Maybe we shouldn’t even be there’ President made contradictory comment to reporters on Air Force One after pleading with allies to help US secure Strait of Hormuz

According to The Guardian Trump's demand for ships for Hormuz gets a response: 'Xavier Bettel, Luxembourg’s deputy prime minister, said his country would not give in to “blackmail” from the US' - wot, no Luxembourg's navy? 🤔www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/16/trump-...

there's a theory that if only Britain exploited North Sea oil we'd be secure from a global energy price shock

which totally ignores (or doesn't understand) the fact that energy prices are global and a rise in UK production (from a declining basin) would have negligible impact on that global price

None of this is new. “Heat pumps are superior in efficiency to condensing boilers, even if the heat pumps are powered by electricity from a power station burning natural gas.” Not me saying that but the late Prof Sir David MacKay in 2008 in his landmark book. www.withouthotair.com

Ukraine builds new power grid with solar, wind and batteries that better withstands Russian attacks A decentralized power grid with solar, wind and batteries has fewer central points that can be knocked out, unlike the old system with large power plants and centralized transmission lines.

Three real-world examples, all occurring at the same time, of how fossil-fuels create energy security risks and distributed WindWaterSolar reduces them

BYD just killed your EV argument with a battery that competes with gas engines The Chinese carmaker's new batteries feature a 5-minute charge and 621-mile range, plus a 620,000-mile lifespan and lower prices.

It feels like we get new announcements like this -- more range, more speed, more features, and lower costs -- every few weeks from EV makers.

From conventional automakers? Crickets.

I'm delighted with my heat pump.

But my experience getting it installed taught me what’s been stopping many more people from getting one (so far).

I wrote for @politicshome.bsky.social on the hurdles that government needs to think about as it implements the Warm Homes Plan. 👇
