My own two cents - the parallels between Ideon and Eva probably aren't (entirely) deliberate but instead stem from both creators' heavy depression.

thing is that while ideon and eva have broad strokes similarities as scifi stories about communication between people with an undercurrent of occultism, they don't feel similar to watch in practice. leaving aside that you can describe a great many scifi stories like that,
