The proposal won’t create any new prohibitions on FISA and it actually makes it easier for the government to use this data against Americans.
Dem @golden.house.gov voted with Republicans to sink an Iran war powers resolution, which failed in a 213-214 vote.
Dem leaders could’ve forced this vote weeks ago when they possibly had more support but waited until after Trump escalated.
What’s motivating them: strategy or politics?
The House was supposed to start voting on a renewal of FISA w/o any privacy reforms right now. But that’s been postponed because Republicans, Democrats & independents put aside partisan politics and are fighting for the shared cause of protecting American’s privacy rights.
