before i log off yet again, because my life is in shambles, fear not: at the very least i *am* playing a lot of video games to relax these days.

now you might be thinking 'james, has a single thing that is good happened to you in the last six months'. and the answer is: yeah i did buy a steam deck because this shit got me SO down i demanded at least ONE THING i could enjoy lol

Things are still very difficult at home right now. In a way it's hard to discuss in public, tbh. But I really sincerely appreciate that so many of you have sent me very kind words, it makes me feel very lucky, and thank you to everyone who has, truly.

I really love you all and feel so grateful for all the messages- public and, especially private- after what I posted here recently. Things have gotten honestly even more hectic this week and it means a lot to me that people have sent such kind thoughts our way, truly. I love you all <3

Thank you very much to everyone who has sent well wishes to me and my family in the past few days. Things are currently very stressful, for many reasons, and I wanted to say I really truly appreciate all the people who have sent kind words to me recently.

I have a twin room I'd be happy to add a guest onto and split, if you're still looking and would want to split with me, for the record!

I know rooms were difficult this year because of the limited rooms, so.

Also, heads up before I log off again: I am booked in for TFN and have a twin room. If anyone I know personally is stuck without a room and wants to split rather than go elsewhere, I'd be happy to contact the Hilton about changing to two people and split the cost equally.

-but without getting into the nitty gritty my personal life has been basically 'oh god just One More Thing' several times in a row for a few months now and it all sort of. Got away from me. So I thought I'd post at least something here publically since a lot of people I know are on here.

But now she is actually out of hospital/no longer in an extended state of emergency, I'm hoping things are gonna calm down enough I can take some time to sort my head out and directly contact some folks I'm long overdue doing that for. Again, I'm really sorry for the extended radio silence-

Things are extremely touch and go for me in my personal life right now + since I'm away from home for the forseeable w/ no idea when my Mam might be going back in for (probably) a difficult surgery, or what her recovery is going to entail, I don't know when I'm likely to be around more consistently.

I'm sorry that I've been around incredibly erratically if anyone has tried to contact me and not gotten a response, or not heard from me for a while- I was intending once things improved end of last year to sort stuff, but now with everything at the moment with my Mam it's been 100% of my priority.

(I'd rather not go into details about the latter here, since it's fairly public, but it was an 'extended stay in emergency resuscitation' situation.)

Long story short: I had a personal mental health crisis at the end of last year that knocked out my ability to function day to day, + currently have a family emergency going on (my Mam was hospitalized for an extended period and I am helping look after her) that has disrupted things a lot for us.

it's a very good kids' film, even! but lots of folks don't wanna see even a very good kids' film, and that's normal and fine.

the deepseated belief that adults without a preexsting fannish attachment to this film would all be blown away by it if only they knew to go see it is... weird. i would never rec TFone to an adult not, like, specifically into nerdy kids' shit! it is a kids' film! this is not a failure on its part!!
