A series collection of 10 various pollinators found in the Basque Country, all interaction with local flora.
For #EarthDay2026, we highlight the diversity of #Basque pollinators we study, exploring their interactions, stability, and resilience. 🌿🐝

This week we began our first round of #fieldwork for the season, keeping busy with #plant-pollinator interaction surveys, #flower marking, #biomass collection and more 🌿🐝. Teamed up with new and returning members, we are ready to tackle yet another year in #Gorbeia Natural Park 💪.

Busy spring in the lab. 🌼 Here, post doc @luisjachueca.bsky.social extracts the guts of Bombus pascuorum (the common carder bee), collected by the team in Gorbeia Natural Park last season. We're curious to investigate its microbiome composition, diversity and much, much more... 🧬🐝
La primavera empieza con millones de pequeñas arquitectas de la naturaleza: las hembras de las abejas silvestres que construyen nidos y llenan el paisaje de vida. Hoy celebramos también a las mujeres que estudian y protegen la biodiversidad.

Highlighting some great work published last year, led by our own postdoc Estefanía Tobajas, showing how landscape and crop diversity boosts yield stability 🌿🐝
I had a great time talking about pollinators, hummingbirds, and why biodiversity is the foundation of resilient ecosystems with @scihanna.bsky.social. We discuss how diversity helps ecosystems withstand shocks and why it matters for both nature and people. Listen here: www.scilux.eu/episodes/hum...

Reflecting on another great conference at @ecoflor.bsky.social in #Tortosa. 🌿🌼 The SARE team shared our latest research through two talks and a poster, discussing wild bee #microbiomes, seed #viability, and #feral honey bees. Plus, we wrapped up the trip with a (very windy) excursion to Els Ports. ⛰️
🌸 The SARE Lab team joined #SCAPE2025 in Priego de Córdoba, sharing our latest work on pollinator ecology & microbiomes 🐝🦠
We presented 2 talks + 2 posters on how global change affects pollinator dynamics, biodiversity & ecosystem stability 🌍💛
