The Bulls were far away from anything meaningful even before they traded all of their decent players. This won't be a quick fix, and they're doomed to fail if they think it is. They need a solid three-year plan, and I was always skeptical Billy would be down to sit through that.

Feels like a both things can be true situation for the Bulls: 1) Billy Donovan was a really good coach, and it will be difficult to upgrade on him with this next hire, and 2) cleaning house was probably in their best interest to align the next GM/coach on the best long-term plan.

DePaul did not make this list, but they would have been an honorable mention. A lot of Big East programs have done nice work in the portal so far, but I love DePaul's haul and really think they could push for a tournament bid for the first time in 22 years next season.

Ranked the best team transfer portal hauls so far in men's college basketball.

Michigan was No. 1 on this list last year and I think they ended up doing pretty well.

Wemby finished in the 33rd percentile for rim frequency among bigs. You would think the guy with an 8-foot wingspan would benefit from playing closer to the basket more often, but his perimeter skill has become so damn good that it doesn't really matter.

And Luke Kornet.

Wemby doing behind the back dribbles, full speed spin moves, and pull-up threes in the first quarter of his first playoff game. Good start.

Paolo and Franz have no trouble finishing over the top of the Pistons’ wings as long as their touch doesn’t abandon them. Magic also have plenty of good options to guard Cade + lots of beef to stuff Duren’s drives. I like the way the matchups work out for Orlando.

NBA games just feel so much different with actual stakes. These playoffs are going to be bonkers and I’m choosing to believe these first two nights of the play-in proves it

You must simply cherish every moment with Steph

The best available player in the transfer portal? That's easy. I'm surprised it's not the consensus opinion.

They are a decent wing away from their best season in 20 years me thinks

Kon was fourth so the Hornets only had two top-3 picks my bad

6 days ago 2 0 0 0

I still can’t believe DePaul landed one of the best bigs in the portal. Over Kentucky! Gwath is an elite rim protector with the mobility to give you some coverage versatility. He even started ripping threes last year (despite still being a bad FT shooter). Chris Holtmann is cookin’ baby

Same with the Kings and Wizards

Since 2017-18 (aka post-Jimmy trade), the Bulls have the fourth-worst combined record in the NBA. They're the only one of these teams that hasn't picked in the top-3 in that time. Bulls and Hornets have a similar record, but the Hornets drew three top-3 picks and hit all of them.

yes he did

He's 24. That's what happens most of the time when you draft 19 year olds. Your prime is usually 24-28.

49 games isn't a good sample size? It is to me.

The Hornets started off terrible like always but since January 1 they are literally the best team in the league. LaMelo is driving (no pun intended) their success

Those lists are all late to catch up to what's happening. He's top-20 in my book. EPM is the best all-in-one metric and he's No. 12 in that. He's also highly rated in all the other good stats and his on/off numbers are crazy. He's obviously a special player even with his warts.

It’s hard to believe that everything actually broke the Bulls’ way to end the season. An omen for a top-4 pick?

6 days ago 8 0 2 0

Why? LaMelo is a top-20 player in the sport, he's leading the East's team of the future. You were wrong.

6 days ago 0 0 1 0

That’s the biggest Bulls win since Rondo broke his thumb

Yeah that’s when it became clear he was actually going to be a stud
