In its latest episode, @outskirtsmag.bsky.social’s Podcast explores the work of one of the most striking figures in the history of horror cinema, Zé do Caixão, who, to me, also represents a very interesting case of pre-digital multimedia practice. Listen to it here: youtu.be/xVjPgDuh6qc?...
I’ll piss people off by saying this, but Berlinale wanted theatrics to win over politics. Given all the enthusiastic reactions, which wiped from everyone’s memory the attempts to stop journalists from exercising their right to free speech, seems like their strategy worked!
the nurse who prepared my biotherapy meds today complimented me: “mademoiselle you have so beautiful, well-defined veins!!” I guess this is how people start to compliment you when you’re ill all the time.
i think people are reacting to hamnet as if they’ve never seen a single emotionally dense film in their lives. i totally get liking the film, but the way some people react to those who didn’t like it as much feels a bit like mass hysteria.
We returned to our roots this week on the podcast, discussing the founding father of Outskirts Film Magazine: the extraordinary Boris Barnet.
Our guest was Hannah Yang, curator of Doc Film Chicago's ongoing retrospective of the miraculous Soviet filmmaker.

Had the chance to write about Hlynur Pálmason’s delightful and invigorating The Love That Remains, whose unrestrained and malleable approach to narrative and visual economy I deeply adored.
