i'm wrestling with a short story i haven't even begun to write yet. it's horrific and hilarious at the same time. sometimes, during this stage of writing, i just give up for several months or even years, because i'm not ready to say what i have to say. it's too uncomfortable. i have to sit with it.

spring book haul! heard great things about maud ventura. read moa romanova in 2022. didn't want to give 33 euros for it tho. had to wait. read annie ernaux's shame, in original. cro edition was too expensive. bought it second hand. love edith wharton. wakoski & levertov could have been tra. better.
so depressed, i had to book a vacay right now. do i have the money for it? of course not! but i'll blow someone at the beach for $175k. that will cover it.
sometimes, i'm ashamed to say i'm an author. because - look at us! jesus fucking christ!

art isn't commerce. writing isn't contingent on public relations. big money has done some serious damage to literary scene. globally. authors have to be content creators & managers, literary agents, marketing experts? outgoing and healthy?! $175,000 isn't THAT much money.
