Idc about Heated Rivalry because I’ve read the exact same story hundreds of times on ao3, but if it makes yall start liking 2012 gay fanfiction and 2005 Montreal indie music, then I support it 200%!!!!!!!
Has anyone done a 3 hour youtube deep dive of every overdone fanfic trope in heated rivalry explained
Watching people debate your rights is a soul-crushing process. Watching people do so who can't even be bothered to pretend to believe what they're saying is soul-annhilating.
This article is a must-read. It matches my own experience of seeing conservative judges go from often siding with trans plaintiffs prior to 2021 to being outwardly hostile. Judges don't live in a hermetically sealed chamber. They absorbed anti-trans propaganda.

In this in-depth interview Billie Jean Sweeney — a former editor at The New York Times — details how the paper shifted towards openly promoting anti-trans hatred, why this was directed from the very top, how some staff pushed back and the immense damage done by the NYT legitimizing bigotry.
Kinda wanna go on the modest mouse cruise
Sarah McBride rarely centers her identity as a trans woman. Republicans do that for her. So when she steps to the microphone and talks about "21 years of unwavering homesickness," it means something. @mcbride.house.gov www.readtpa.com/p/watch-rep-...
"The Department of DOJ has instructed inspectors to stop evaluating prisons and jails using standards designed to protect transgender, intersex and gender-nonconforming people from sexual violence, according to an internal memo obtained by NPR."
They want trans people raped.
I live as a man and am seen as a man. That is a verifiable fact whether or not I am "really" a man. Having a passport that outs me would expose my private life and put me in danger. The government shouldn't get to impose that on me because of some philosophical abstraction.
I really dislike this question of whether trans people are "really" women/men. It's the framing the anti-trans activists prefer, and as far as I'm concerned it's also completely irrelevant.
What many quotes seem to say is having identity documents at odds with your lived sex creates opportunities for discrimination and harassment.
The reporter heard about these practical concerns, but chose to focus her story more on what a trans person's "true" identity is and who gets to decide it.
What I dislike about the story is that the author presents the central tension as being about identity and validity: Are trans people "really" who we say we are?
The story claims that this is what many trans people told the reporter. Interestingly, none of the quotes from trans people say this.
I really disliked this piece on trans passports by Amy Harmon of the New York Times. It is, admittedly, an "old" New York Times story, one that makes a reasonable effort to cloak its biases and present itself as seeking both sides of a story ("new" NYT stories don't bother).

Honestly one of the worst, most disturbing paragraphs — on the basis of process, substance, and effect — I’ve read in a Supreme Court order or opinion in a very long time.

Thanks!! I’m just worried if I submit for a data correction (instead of a new application), things might get held up, or denied (they could argue the data was “correct” at the time it was printed). But hopefully guidance is issued soon
I have kinda the same question bc I also got my passport under the Trump EO rule with the wrong sex marker—Should we apply for a passport renewal (DS-82), or data correction (DS-5504)?
