Our walking group Ambling African Women is open to all women.
We enjoyed a lovely walk in the fields of Suffolk for physical exercise, grounding and group emotional wellbeing.

Creating space for open, honest conversations helps build understanding, reduces stigma, and reminds us that no one has to face things alone. Mental health awareness is the first step toward support, stronger communities and healthier minds. 🌱☀️
#mentalhealthawareness
Today’s health awareness session focused on the pelvic floor, understanding its importance, and learning simple exercises to support and strengthen it.
Taking care of our bodies is essential, and it starts with knowledge and awareness!
This highlights the importance of being aware of post-separation abuse and providing survivors with support even after an abusive relationship ends.
#DomesticAbuseAwareness #PostSeparationAbuse #SurvivorSupport #EndTheSilence
Data from Refuge’s National Domestic Abuse Helpline reveals a reality we can’t ignore:
In 2025, 42% of callers identified a former partner as their abuser, compared to 47% reporting a current partner.
Separation is often not the end of abuse.
For many survivors of domestic violence, leaving an abusive relationship does not mean the danger is over.
Half term has come to an end, and our young people have headed back to school 📚
We wish you all a wonderful term filled with growth, learning, and new opportunities. We can’t wait to welcome you back for more half-term activities soon!

Lunchtime 🍽️✨
After a morning full of half-term activities, the children came together to enjoy lunch. Taking time to pause, refuel, and connect is an important part of the day.
Half-term moments 📚✨
This half term, our children took time to slow down, pick up a story, and rediscover the value of reading. Creating space for learning beyond the classroom helps build confidence, imagination, and a lifelong love for books.

Creating safer environments is a collective social responsibility. Workplaces, communities, and leaders all have a role to play in recognising the signs, supporting survivors, and fostering cultures where people feel safe to speak up.

Violence and abuse remain one of the leading drivers of mental ill health among women and girls worldwide. The impact goes far beyond immediate harm, affecting confidence, opportunities, and long-term wellbeing.

Affirmations are a powerful tool for building self-esteem and shaping how we move through life.
At PHOEBE, we remind every child they are valued, capable, and enough 🧡
“I am somebody.”
What affirmations do you say to yourself?

For many workers, particularly migrant women this can lead to financial instability, reduced access to training and progression, and increased pressure to accept unpredictable working conditions.
Zero-hour work without a formal contract often means no guaranteed income, limited legal protection, and ongoing uncertainty.

The children had a fantastic time during our baking session, where they worked together to make their own pies 🥧
Activities like baking not only encourages creativity, but also builds confidence, teamwork, and valuable life skills.
With the half-term activities in full swing, the youth enjoyed a lovely afternoon BBQ at the Phoebe Centre 🌞🍔

Raising awareness is key: if we want a fair and sustainable healthcare system, we must ensure the people delivering care are protected, informed, and treated with dignity from the very start.
Ethical recruitment standards state that workers should never pay for a job. Employers and agencies are responsible for covering these costs. (IHRB 2025)
Many migrant healthcare workers are being illegally charged recruitment fees by agencies despite laws in many countries that clearly prohibit this practice. These fees can push workers into debt, increase vulnerability to exploitation, and in some cases amount to forced labour.

Week 2 of Half-Term Activities started with a lovely day spent at the park, children enjoyed games, snacks and lots of laughter together! ☀️🫂
With the sun making an appearance, Gogo has been busy in the garden… what do you think she is planting ?😁☀️🪴🌱
Did you know that gardening has a lot of benefits for our mental and physical wellbeing ?
For example, spending time in nature can lower cortisol levels (our stress hormones) so even simple activities such as watering plants can feel very calming and grounding.
Stronger safeguards, ethical recruitment practices, and accountability across systems are critical to ensuring safety and dignity at every step.
This is not just a migration issue, it’s a labour rights, gender equity, and human dignity issue. Protecting those who care for others must be a global priority.
