I'm desperate to know who Le Gun is. A man who rails against the British worker as lazy and unproductive, yet is somehow the first commenter under every FT article

WWE just did two shows in one weekend with over 100,000 combined attendees.

You don't have to like pro-wrestling, but in a world where opera and subsidised theatre are struggling, it's baffling that arts and culture journalists fail to take the world's most popular form of live theatre seriously

A perhaps smarter way for Europe and the US to look at this is the way the Chinese system gives them a massive moat around the high value service industries that China can't develop.

The Chinese system can't do world class law firms or the creative industries! Let's double down on our strengths!

The final humiliation for the Tories: not even the Communists see the point of being mean to them

Central is very much just abandoned by Londoners as a tourist playground.

But the way the white collar gentrifiers and born-and-raised social housing residents on my estate come together in the Tenants & Residents Association (or even the WhatsApp group) and make the place better is terrific

Aye, fair enough (but wrong!). Fwiw, I find my bit of Zone 2 is no more or less crowded or civicly virtuous than the bit of Manchester I used to live in

Hating on cities is absolutely fine, it's just hating on London that is incorrect

James, I am sad to hear you are a London hater. How come?

BYOB at the Oval too (may impact your enjoyment of the LSO afterwards)

It somehow gets a free pass because it isn't as openly fascist as X or as brain-melting as TikTok, but Instagram is 100% a cancer on our society and a HUGE source of unhappiness and dissatisfaction

Imagine the total increase in human happiness if we just banned Instagram

The translation on BBC News has broken down so the Central Europe correspondent is doing a simultaneous translation of Magyar's speech, which is pretty impressive

It is absolutely incredible that HMRC thought (and still thinks) that it is acceptable to tell every sole trader in the country that they have to file digitally, but that HMRC isn't providing any means to do, that you probably need to get some software from somewhere, and that it sucks to be you.

As a world-class skiver, I am going to stake my claim as the originator of Work From Oval, because I mentioned the idea to @jim.londoncentric.media on the last day of the SA test in 2022, and then he went on the Surrey podcast and talked about it, and now it's an officially sanctioned thing

Accidentally left The Apprentice on the telly and it is INCREDIBLE how dumb this TV show is.

This is cancerous television.

I'm trying desperately to come up with an acronym as @duncanrobinson.bsky.social bait.

The best I've got is POOLSCAT (Priced Out Of Live Sport, Can Afford Tinnies).

Might struggle to get that past the ECB marketing guys.

I'm co-organising this as a nice little project. If any of you journalists or content types are interested in writing about it, LET'S CHAT.

"We're all getting priced out of live sport, but I went to watch Kent play at Beckenham and they let me take in a box of wine" is a good lifestyle angle imo

This feels unwise, given that if Corbyn successfully sued Hat Trick Productions (who run this account), it could possibly bankrupt them

I'm claiming both "Work From Oval" and "the best pub garden in London" (which they've also started calling it), as I used both on twitter before they did.

Honestly, people should pay me for this stuff

Why do some killer motorists get short prison sentences? UK road safety laws are letting them off the hook | Sally Kyd Two court cases last month illustrate how confusion over legal definitions are feeding into a culture of poor driving standards, says law professor Sally Kyd

This is a good piece. We simply accept 1000s of unnecessary deaths because we won't force all of us who drive to accept we have a dangerous machine in our hands.

And then fail to enforce that fact as police have basically stopped policing the roads.

In our Edinburgh flat, the front half had draughty wooden sash windows because conservation, while the back half was allowed to have modern PVC ones.

The result? We basically didn't use half the flat for 3 months of the year. Totally nuts.
