There was a time when the president inspired pride instead of exhaustion. I miss that more than I can say.

Book censorship has so many far-reaching consequences, especially in the world of children’s publishing. Whoever your audience, if you’re an author you should be screaming about this.

This infuriating attitude shows up on the bookshelves in learning environments, too. We expect girls to empathize with boys, but we kneecap every opportunity to let boys empathize with girls. And look where we are.

What Nobody’s Telling Querying Writers About What’s Happening to Publishing #kidlit
Marginalized writers who fought harder to get in the door in the first place are often the first ones pushed back out when the industry decides it needs to “focus.”

The C.I.A. director used one word to describe the Israeli prime minister’s regime change scenarios: “farcical.”
At that point, Mr. Rubio cut in. “In other words, it’s bullshit,” he said.
And here we are.
The underlying problem with overemphasizing the antagonist’s culpability in the external conflict is, in a word, projection. #kidlit

From space, the moon fully blocks the sun, casting a dark silhouette surrounded by a glowing corona, as seen by Artemis II astronauts after reemerging from the moon’s far side.
After emerging from the far side of the moon, the Artemis II astronauts witnessed something few have ever experienced—a total solar eclipse in space.

POTUS Proposes Elimination of Federal Library Funding. The President again requested that Congress eliminate the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) program. We've seen this before, and we're not going away. Fund Libraries, ALA 150, American Library Association.
"We are not surprised that the White House FY27 budget zeroes out funding for IMLS and IAL. The president’s intentions for IMLS were clear last year with the executive order to dismantle IMLS and cut off its funding [...] ALA members have a solid track record of defeating the president’s threats, but we do not underestimate the lengths to which he will go to undercut support for America’s libraries. ALA is working to make sure decisionmakers continue to hear from library advocates.” - ALA President Sam Helmick
NEW: The President once again called to eliminate federal library funding in his federal budget proposal. We have been here before. And when we make our voices heard, we can overcome this again.
