Extremely proud of the latest research study we just released, The Creators. For one thing, it led to this article, and to me, this is an existential issue for podcasting, because it wasn't great to begin with, and video is making it *worse*.

Just read this! One bit of "color" to this is that radio stations haven't really done research like this in years and years - most of the big companies slashed their research (especially music research) to the bone. Not doing research has really harmed commercial broadcast, especially music radio.
Tomorrow! Join me for our last research presentation of the year: The Creators 2025. Learn who is creating, who has stopped, and where the barriers to creating may lie. Ring in the holidays with KNOWLEDGE

Forget "Podfade." Let's talk about creator fade. That's the topic of this week's newsletter, and next week's new research study, The Creators 2025.

Mostly I am just proud of the headline, but today's article also presents an interesting twist on podcast advertising - when the podcaster and the brand are one:

My little book on podcasting, The Audience Is Listening, has been out for a year now, and I am so pleased with how people have responded to it. May I ask, if you found value, would leave a review on the platform of your choice? Every review matters. Thank you kindly.

Props to the music director for Alien Earth for ending episode one with a full playout of "The Mob Rules" from Dio-era Sabbath. Right on the fuckin' nose.

Last week I got to attend a lecture from someone I admire a great deal: Mac King, the longest-running 1-person show in Vegas history (20 years and counting) and the greatest comedy magician to have ever done it. I learned the secret to keeping your show fresh

ICYMI: Last week's Sounds Profitable newsletter wasn't your average weekly missive - it was a robust exploration of podcastings "Fans", "Anti-fans," and of course, the "meh middle." Brand new, unreleased data and some clear marching orders for the medium.

You are off to a great start. Chuck's writing is vigorous and addicting.
It's a *great* week when there is a brand new @chuckwendig.bsky.social book sitting on my Kindle. Plowed through a quarter of it last night. Swearing off the woods, stairs, and other people for a while.
This week in the Sounds Profitable newsletter, I dig into Smart TV podcast consumption - and I gotta say, two things really surprised me. And I don't often get surprised, because I never eat with my back to the door and I sleep in a panic room.
