Kinda feel like the Onion should only do real stories on April Fools day

I couldn't bear to disappoint Louisa that way
She was really impressive. And dang, wish I'd seen you (and Dave!) there - I would have said hi
One of the joys of music fests is discovering great bands you didn't know. Like the awesome Finlands at @sxsw.com
BOC! Hearing them blasting from my brother's room was my intro to rock music
I'm willing to pay $200 now and again for bands I should see once in my life... The Stones, Springsteen, Beyonce, stuff like that. But I can't imagine $400+
I remember a kid in high school who saw AC/DC and could just barely hear for 3 days afterward. I wonder about him sometimes. 40 years later, I'm seeing them this summer... I'll have earplugs
Ah, this makes me so happy, to see Dan and Peggy Reeder on national TV. Truly a gem www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYQR...
oof... hang in there! Our first was a crier. Never been so frustrated in my life. Nothing made her stop for long. Until finally we started supplementing with bottle feeding - she was just hungry all the time, poor kid
I'm fortunate to be largely unscathed (lightly scathed?), but I do have a wee bit of tinnitus on occasion. Unfortunately, ear damage doesn't heal
Indeed! I literally just bought some in preparation for SXSW. My ears have survived Americanafest and Big Ears just fine, but I think a few bands on my Austin list might shred in more ways than one
Those $20 shows are such a better experience too - you're 20 feet from the musicians, and it's a visceral experience. You can *feel* the music being made. So often the $250 show leaves you 200 feet from the stage, watching it on a screen, barely connected to the music creation
Also great. I think you could throw a dart at the Old 97's discography and hit an album better than most bands' best
But what if I said it's actually Fight Songs? No, wait, Satellite Rides! (god that's such a good band...)
ahhhh, I see. Makes sense, I reckon
I thought input from the dugout was not allowed?
I love that place so much. Glad you liked!
Enjoy! Literally yesterday I just finished the pierogi I brought home last summer and froze. Little fried onion, little bit of sour cream... damn fine comfort food
Kramarczuk's! An incredible Ukrainian deli and restaurant. Get the borscht, and maybe some pierogi, and then hit the deli and bakery for a bunch of stuff to go (bring a cooler). It's a mandatory stop whenever we go there for Brewers games (MKE guy here) kramarczuks.com/about/
Yes! Another great one. She and the rest of the Flat Five also do a great cover of Paper Cup www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gXf...
Absolutely killer album. Wild Mountain Berries might be my favorite - it's the sound of loving life. Love their Bob Wills album too (and everything Kelly Hogan has even whispered near)
That album hits like a fist in a velvet glove. A thousand of us at a fest in rural Wisconsin last summer sang along to that song, and we all roared at “nothing can stop me now” and “there’s a war on the people, what don’t you understand?” in Snake Plant. Felt like we all had a moment together.
It's incredible to see this play out - what is a law if a government can simply choose not to comply? What is a law if there are no repercussions for breaking it?
Is there realistically a point at which a judge says you've so flagrantly disobeyed a court's orders so many times that Official X or Attorney Y is going to jail for a while til you fix it?
The awfulness of this soothes me like a warm bath. And that somebody convinced themselves it was watchable is hilarious. This is what happens when nobody in the meeting is willing to say “Wait … this looks like hot salted ass, though.”
From the Independent: "ICE is rumored to be heading for Philadelphia. Everyone is saying the same thing' Reaction from ben doyle (@thewheatgerm): "this is the equivalent of hitler sending you to stalingrad"
imgaine getting sent packing with your ass in your own two hands by some of the nicest people in the world and then showing up in a city that is famous for booing santa claus
People talk about how cold weather no big deal for Minnesotans, but as a lifelong upper Midwesterner I can say: 10 below is freaking cold for EVERYONE. Those folks are heroes
It's 7 below in Minneapolis right now
God, give me *more* of those venue emails. Plenty of times I've missed a great band because I didn't hear about the show. My inbox instead is filled with 200,000 emails from wayfair and lands end because I once bought 4 bowls and a shirt 10 years ago
