We had the first spring swarming of bees today. They attack the sunny side of the house. Quite a few found their way into the kitchen and despite leaving windows and doors open for them, a dozen or so died on the floor. They seem to do this every year.

Blackberry turnover
A fancied a pizza tonight. Not posting a photo because it didn’t deserve it.
But here is a blackberry (from the freezer) turnover with crème fraiche for when the wine has taken the taste of the tomato sauce, over-salted mozzarella and cheap ham out of my mouth.
Yes, it is so sad.
What can bodies like the RHS, IHR, the specialist societies (French, German etc) do that would help? There’s a small amount of money in the system and lots of goodwill.
I was one of those "retired PhD" students. It was a brilliant personal experience. But it can't ever replace the start of a teaching/research academic career, and without academics, there won't be the supervisors, communities, or institutions for the vanity projects of the wealthy retired.
As others have said, this must mean the allocation of public space to a named private car. And that's the fundamental problem with the "replace ICE with E cars" strategy - it deals ONLY with the emissions problem while leaving all the others untouched AND it adds even more public domain capture.
Moon and stars
It’s astonishing how much the iPhone camera has improved over the years.
He was named in a squad - Sri Lanka tour maybe? - but got injured at the wrong time. They’ve probably moved on to the next generation now. There’s a few good young bats around: McKinney at Durham, Tribe at Glam, Allison at Essex both Rews, Vaughan. But they’ll stick with Pope, Smith and Crawley.
Omelette
Bon appétit.
Dinner
A very simple dinner again tonight.
The “R” word? If it’s what I think it is, I may have said that I’ve been called that and a “C**tin” too. Because the car people were bullies at school and never grew up. Like most of Reform politicians and voters.
Good game. Why would anyone watch the fast-food from India when you can eat a Michelin Starred tasting menu.
Tom A is a much better player for not being captain. Gregory has been quite brilliant as white ball captain and seems very calm under pressure. Good communicator. Players respond to him. Doesn’t get pissed on tour. His dad doesn’t play golf. Probably why he’s not England’s white ball skipper.
Notts to the left of them. Bears to the right. Surrey ringers straight ahead. Maroon Dragoons, CHARGE!
Lots of time yet for Surrey to bring in a few ringers.
Excellent. So pleased for Tom A.
HURRAH.
9,500 now watching…
#cricket
Jack takes a single!
8,800 people watching live cricket feed of County Championship #cricket from Southampton.
I missed that!! This combine harvester thing? What’s that?
Excellent photo.
Only on BlueSky.
I was really really drunk that evening in Cardiff. And mildly squiffy at Lord’s. Probably explains why I don’t get invited to corporate hospitality any longer.
Though it’s really not surprising that you can’t identify the first two generalissimos of the Royal and Catholic Army of the Vendée. Probably less than 100 people in the world…
The rugby player is the poster boy of Welsh rugby, LRZ.

Watching the Hampshire v Somerset livestream. Good tense #cricket.
But honestly guys - you’ve never come across the word “diaspora” before? And you work for the BBC?
You’ll be telling me that you’re not wearing evening dress to broadcast next.
I’m blocked by over 200 accounts. Must all be Surrey and Saracens supporters.
You probably follow someone who is on a block list. Sadly I am too.
