My post was intended as sympathy for the “too old to be an IC” thing, because it’s a real problem in our adjacent fields. Responding with a lazy, irrelevant self-repost is demeaning and shows no actual interest in engaging with me at all, just using my comment as a prop.

The sympathy angle wouldn’t be necessary — while that is real and it happened, I mostly think it’s funny and I have some popcorn with their name on it for if/when the Find Out part starts. It’s there to contextualize the “run your own business!” part, which would be dumb to recommend sincerely.
