This one seems to have caused panic, and it’s pretty bleak that a picture of a guy smashing a statue of a dude who died two thousand years ago is more internationally disastrous than hundreds of hours of video of civilians being bombed, burned, machine gunned, sniped, evicted and starved.

There is a worrying amount of people that see someone being empathetic and then attack them relentlessly. It's like they think everyone else should be as shitty as they are.

It happened on Twitter back in 2022. A woman noticed her neighbours, some college aged men, were eating a lot of take-away food so she made them a chilli. Then a bunch of people got mad, used therapy speak to justify it, and threatened to kill and eat her micropig.

The people in Gaza who find access to phones and the Internet would be doing things like calling and reaching out to their families and to people like Rep. Tlaib. And if they *are* going to try to panhandle they're going to go where most of the Internet *actually* is and Bluesky (and Tumblr) ain't it. Too few people, most of whom have ideological kneejerks to the existence of money. I get that people meant well but this was a case of failing human nature forever and the people who have been doing this for years embody a mental and emotional sunk cost fallacy. And by people I *don't* mean Molly Shah herself. The therapy speak to evade finance crime was the smoking gun. She openly entrapped other people, one of whom evidently really did get into IRL legal trouble for being dumb enough to do it and refused to get herself in trouble that way. Trusting her after that was 'winning' the Darwin Awards.
