X dodged and dashed to become face to face with the alternate. He stuck out his arm and held his blaster, just up against his nose. But no blast. He’d continue to give Zero the opportunity to change.

X moved just fast enough to avoid being sliced open by the blade, but it did just barely scrape against him. Too close for comfort. At their close distance, X raised his arm once more and fired another blast.

“Hmph!” He grunted, then jumped back.

X knew such words hardly ever worked. But Zero (or whoever this extremely convincing imposter was) was his best friend. It was killing him he had to do this.

X almost immediately dodged to the side before he could blast him. Raising his arm, he fired a low powered blast to the other. The idea of hurting his best friend was the most painful thing he could imagine.

“I’m going to give you the chance to stop before we do something we’ll regret.”
