I am convinced 99% of websites should use magic links + passkeys.
It bypasses all (debatable) portability objections to passkeys, it’s at least as secure as email-based recovery, as fast as a password manager, it’s available to all users… and importantly, no passwords!

412 researchers from 33 countries (including myself) as well as numerous NGOs have signed an open letter urging the EU to remove this clause, mandating privacy-enhancing technologies for the European identity infrastructure, and requesting more transparency about the development of such regulations.
The EU is proposing highly concerning cryptography regulations: #eIDAS #Article45 would enable any EU member state to eavesdrop on and tamper with the web traffic of any EU citizen and would also severely limit the security measures that can be taken to protect the European web.
Thanks for catching that!
