Does anyone know what the fuel reserve situation is like for the emergency services and if/when the fuel blockade will start impacting them?
Blame FPTP. It pushes smaller parties into hyper focusing on local problems or you end up like Reform with 14% of the vote and only 5 seats
Just worth saying, for absolutely legal clarity: the government does not have the legal prerogative to abolish carbon tax in its entirety. Carbon tax is a form of excise, and EU directives require excise on diesel to be a minimum of 33c per litre. (1/2)
This is the most successful #JustStopOil protest ever
I thought decisions were funnelled through ACP to avoid political pressure 🤔
The ring road permission has been granted by An Coimisiún Pleanála. Here is my take.
That’s precisely £1000 in old punts!
While the survey says only 13% of English language school parents would like to send their children to a Gaelscoil, if that happened it would treble the Gaelscoil population! Huge demand for Irish language teaching
Two exciing events next week. On the Tuesday the 14th April I am hosting a talk on Flooding in Galway at the Galway Bay Hotel 8pm.
The following day myself and several other by-election candidates will debate traffic congestion at the Park House Hotel 7pm.
If climate protesters had blocked roads for as long as the fuel protesters did, there would be people on the radio demanding the army be called in to shoot them all
Note that our government is doing nothing to reduce fuel *use*, just redirect our tax money to reduce our perception of fuel costs.
In this, or the housing crisis, or any other problem, they will never do anything that stops money flowing to big businesses.
They literally cannot think it.

Big news 📣📣. April 15th in the park house hotel were hosting a meeting on transport traffic congestion and all things stopping you getting to work or school on time.
This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.
If we qualify, I've promised to name my firstborn Heimir. My wife's not thrilled by this. She says "He's seven, and he already has a name".

Ahh the traditional “RTE Player craps itself at crucial moment in match” has happened two times already tonight
We never got the scouring of the Shire in the Jackson trilogy, so this could basically cover that?
Hard to be optimistic about anything at the moment, but there is one positive development I suppose. Donald Trump has made the strongest possible case for why countries must turn their back on fossil fuel. And they seem to be listening.
"The only solution is to cut our reliance on fossil fuels"
In this piece I spell out how the government is doing the opposite with their support for an LNG ( Liquified Natural Gas) terminal on the Shannon, and cutting public transport, and allowing new data centres to be powered by gas.
Simpsons meme with Homer talking to cult recruiters. Homer: So who is hosting this Monday night TV show? Recruiter: Gavan Reilly Homer: And when is this Gavan Reilly show on? Recruiter: Monday night
The Government can and should support households burdened with increased energy and fuel costs as a result of the war in Iran.
But it's important that the debate around how to do this deals with the facts (1/2)
In my @irishtimes.com op-ed today I argue that our climate law is the best framework we have for making energy secure and affordable, because it tackles the root cause of our vulnerability to energy shocks - our dependence on fossil fuels.

The Irish government in 100 years will invest in the mecha James Connolly only for the Brits to immediately shoot it in the leg
Media’s pro-Western bias is often blatant, sometimes subtle but always omnipresent.
Below is an example of the latter.
Deputy @rodericogorman.bsky.social puts it to the Minister for Transport that while infrastructure takes time to build, the new BusConnects bus timetable for Galway already has many of the bus lanes - it just needs funding for buses and drivers.
