#DirtyBusiness exposed the human cost of profit before public health.

Our water system won’t be fixed with tinkering. It needs public ownership.

I’ve asked my MP to attend the MP drop-in on 17th March & hear that message directly from sewage campaigners: actionnetwork.org/letters/ask-...

So last Monday I went off to the Showroom in Sheffield (a lovely independent cinema (well worth a visit)) to see the film Sirat. It’s sounded okay from the write up, but it’s another film that’s left me feeling traumatised, I think it should come with a free counselling session.

I am not a Green Party member or supporter however Zack appears to be the only party leader talking sense. “The events of the past 48 hours have laid bare Keir Starmer's utter inability to stand up to Donald Trump - and this weakness could have serious consequences for the safety of British people.”

In our increasingly fractured society there’s much to learn from the ancient seasons of Ramadan & Lent, which this year coincide. So Julie Siddiqi and I took 2 minutes to reflect on the insight they bring us. There are differences but there’s far more that unites than divides us.

We didn't see any bears, troubling his flock in the film, so I am not sure. The Dogs looked like Pyrenean Mountain Dogs, but I am no expert. My next door neighbour used to have one and it was a real softie ;-)

Do you know the term ‘Croydonisation’? It’s in the Oxford Dictionary, defined as ‘the architectural ruin of a town centre’. Which appears to be what’s going on in Sheffield!

What on earth are the Council planners thinking of?

Went to the Showroom Cinema, yesterday it’s a great art deco building which was originally Kennings. I love to be able to support this independent cinema.

The film was called The Shepherd and the Bear, and was a French language film with English subtitles. Quite a thought provoking film #sheffield

Whether you love the BBC or loathe it, Trump’s actions this week have been straight out of the authoritarian playbook. Not content with undermining democracy at home, he’s now set his sights on our independent national broadcaster. #bbc

Like Brexit, calls to leave the ECHR are about blaming external organizations for our own problems. Just as Brexit didn't make it easier to control migration, being outside the ECHR won't either. It will just strip everyone in Britain of fundamental rights, aligning us with Russia and Belarus.

75 years ago Today! The European Movement, led by Winston Churchill, wrote the first draft of the ECHR for the Council of Europe as you can see in the ECHR library. The UK was among the first nations to sign this treaty and it required no laws changed in the UK as it was already aligned with UK law.

Sad to see that 38% of YouGov people think that its fairly unlikely the peace deal between Israel and Hamas will hold. I have felt so powerless over this.

More than 47 million Americans — including one in five children — don’t have reliable, affordable access to nutritious food. And as the cost of living skyrockets, more families are depending on SNAP benefits, or food stamps, to put food on the table.

Do you know the story of the scorpion and the frog? You know, the frog agrees to carry the scorpion across the river, because the scorpion promises not to sting him. And then the scorpion stings the frog, half way across the river. The drowning frog asks him why he did it, when they'll both drown

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.
