Wow.. I truly did not expect to see @newgrounds.com come across my feed today, but I’m glad to see that the weird and wonderful artistic community that was a mainstay of my teenage years is still going strong all these years later!

I’m so conflicted. Liquid Glass on a phone kinda sucks, but the CarPlay UI is actually really good.

Nothing like a power outage to remind you that you forgot a “restart: unless-stopped” in your compose file.

Bazzite is a great out-of-box experience for sure! I’ve been running it on my gaming PC for almost a year now and have generally had a pretty positive experience. The only thing I will say is driver support can be rough for brand new hardware, but that’s hardly a Bazzite-only problem.

Giving Go a Try A constructive, honest review of my first real Go project: a CLI todo app.

A few years ago I missed an opportunity to try out #golang - this past long weekend I decided to remedy that and I wrote about it: www.stevexciv.com/blog/giving-...

Introducing Structured Outputs in the API We are introducing Structured Outputs in the API—model outputs now reliably adhere to developer-supplied JSON Schemas.

This sounds like a worthwhile cause! If you’re going to automate via the API, you might consider structured output. Essentially, ChatGPT can be configured to output only responses matching a JSON schema: openai.com/index/introd...

Great write up! These visuals would have saved me quite a bit of time back when I was still a junior engineer and came across reservoir sampling for the first time 🤣

+1 for Zola; stevexciv.com is a Zola site and I don’t see that changing any time soon 😁

Thank you! Yes I found MASH quite pleasant to use. It’s clear to me that the fundamentals are there for building amazing things. I’m excited about the prospect of digging into it some more and answering questions around project structure, testing, etc.

Zero to Prototype: Trying Out the MASH Stack My experiences giving the MASH Stack a try.

I wrote a quick blog post about trying out the MASH stack in #rustlang after seeing @8hantanu.net and @emschwartz.me write about it - it was a good time! www.stevexciv.com/blog/zero-to...

@bsky.app this has probably been suggested before, but it would be awesome to have the option to block an account as like a checkbox on the report form; I reported a few spam bots and having to reopen the menu to block is a bit clunky

Duolingo really just made me do a whole listening exercise complete with cutscenes and the only things the characters said were “hello”, “goodbye”, and “see you tomorrow”.

Totally second this! I’ve only ever done prototypes in #godot because real life always pulls me away from longer term projects. However, it’s one of the few pieces of software where I don’t dread clicking the button to upgrade projects to the new version. They’ve got that down to a science!
