Today I delivered another 14 bags of groceries (under blue skies!) from White Center Food Bank to 7 neighbors in White Center, Burien, and Seattle for @cascade.org #PedalingReliefProject – we use volunteers, bikes, and trailers to get fresh food to neighbors with mobility or accessibility challenges

Hey, so ICE is still kidnapping and disappearing people in the United States.

Just because they got quieter about it doesn't make it okay.

Abolish ICE. Chinga la Migra.

Very cool to see tech employees organizing together with the food service workers who feed them.

The world needs more people like Abdoul Mbengue (and fewer tech execs who bend the knee to Trump)

GEO Group is obstructing our efforts to inspect the Northwest ICE Processing Center.

The law is clear. We are going to do what it takes to get our health inspectors into that facility.

We’ve seen people start out by coming to whistle kit parties, and then move on to start neighborhood defense groups (ICE watch, rapid response, etc). We love to refer volunteers to groups like WAND (neighborhooddefense.org) and @ndlon.bsky.social.

Step 1: go to a whistle kit party
Step 2: give whistles to your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors. MN has proved the importance of hyperlocal neighborhood networks, and those all start somewhere. Whistles are a great conversation starter. Many people don’t know that ICE is active here.

We’ve found that whistle kit parties attract a range of people, both newbies and experienced activists from a variety of organizations. They’re great for learning about ways to get help, beyond whistles.

Good question! The whistles can be used more broadly as emergency alert whistles, like calling for help in an unsafe situation.

Beyond the physical whistle, whistle kit parties are great places to build community and discuss next steps.

As punishment, GEO guards take 22 people to the “special segregation unit.” They’re kept there for nearly three weeks.

The special containment unit is filthy and unsafe, with vomit, feces, and blood. It doesn’t get cleaned.

No one should be forced to endure this.

Three people confront the three GEO guards. A guard pushes one of them down the stairs. The injured man is later taken to the ER on a stretcher.

This incident escalates tensions between detainees and later that day sparks two altercations.

To summarize:
Three GEO guards at NWDC come into a unit to indiscriminately confiscate people’s personal items. Not contraband— these are items people were initially allowed to keep with them.

Understandably, detainees get upset. GEO guards threaten to do a full bomb search.

Why does CBP still have free access to our personal DoL data via Nlets? The Keep Washington Working Act is supposed to prevent exactly that.

If the state government can’t follow its own laws, we’re cooked.
