Today’s classroom was pretty spectacular!!
There is dried moss everywhere in my classroom and I’m certain I’m going to be finding random bits of plant bulbs and pine cones for weeks to come but another successful science lesson learning about plant reproduction and vegetative propagation. Loving the art outcomes too!
Our science unit has the outcome to create a botanical/zoological art exhibit so we started by dissecting some beautiful freesias to identify the reproductive organs and then began creating some Linnean style botanical diagrams. Looking forward to these being completed!
It’s the 3rd of September. I’ve been back at school for 2 weeks so it’s clearly time for only one thing…. Sending out the staff Xmas party invite 😂😂😂
Not the last weekend for me as I’ve already been back since 21st Aug and the kids have been in this week but just brightened up my day by collecting these lovely freesias from the flower market for our science lesson on Monday!
I’m all for it! Stollen is one of my fave s do I’ll happily begin the process now 😂
Been to the flower market this morning to pick up these beauties for Monday’s science lesson. I feel guilty that Y5 are going to be dissecting them!
They had mince pies and stollen in my local Tesco last night! At least Xmas pud lasts but the mince pies must only have a couple of weeks at best!
I was just slightly excited when I bumped in to him!
I’m in the programme! #COYS
Forget ‘Back to School’, Premier League is back baby! I’m sat right next to the microphones so let’s hope it doesn’t pick up all the random stuff I normally come out with 😂😂😂 #COYS
I quite often feel like a fraud when I lead training beyond my own school because who am I to stand at the front and be the ‘expert’ voice but just had this email from one of our Trust headteachers after my session with all the maths leads this afternoon and it’s made my day!
1st Inset day done! Headteacher had bought us all pastries for breakfast so that was nice. First training session of the academic year on Mastering Number delivered! Trust training day tomorrow and I’ve got all the maths leads together for a network meeting! 24/25 Let’s do this!
Birthday margs!
Happy Birthday lil b’day twin!
It’s my birthday and I’m back to school tomorrow for the first Inset day and quite frankly that should be illegal! I’m still going out though! If you’re going to put training the day after my birthday, then you can expect me to have panda eyes!
Thankfully they were just as happy as I was! I have a feeling I’m going to be with them until the end! They are a cohort who really struggled in KS1 (the impact of Covid hit them the hardest out of all our children) so I think our head wants consistency for them after their difficult start!
My then boyfriend was at Leicester Uni so that swayed my choice when deciding where to go and we moved in together in my 2nd year. The rest, as they say, is history! We’ve been together 21 years and just celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. Leicester is rubbish but one good thing came from it!
Hi, I’m Vicki. Primary AHT.
Going in to my 17th year teaching and taking my lovely Y4s up to Y5. Have taught across the whole of KS2.
Maths and Music Lead, KS2 lead and Primary Teaching for Mastery Specialist with local Maths Hub. NCETM PD lead and NPQLPM facilitator starting in October.
Leicester. I’m originally from down south - Reading, but moved up here for uni 20 years ago and never left!
😂 My husband will be feeling that!
Hey! I’m still trying to get my head round this place! Someone posted something yesterday with lots of teachers and it had a follow all button but I can’t find it now! I also need someone to tell me how I can bookmark posts as I keep seeing useful things but can’t see an option to save things!
There is no place more humbling than the hairdressers mirror 😂😂😂 and I’ve broken the 20 year side parting millennial tradition and gone for a middle parting! My head feels a good stone lighter! I thought my new social media account deserved fresh hair 😂😂
Yes, I have access to the Sharepoint with the slides on sand there seems to be videos talking through the content of the online seminars.
Yes, will be through a teaching school. I work with lots of schools through my role with the Maths Hub so sounds like it will be similar to the work done in my Teacher Research Groups.
Teach First. I haven’t completed an NPQ myself so it’s all new to me! I know we’ve got mainly online seminars and a few face to face conference days. I think I’ll be more comfortable with the face to face days!
I’m going to be facilitating on the NPQLPM from October and really looking forward to it! Would love any tips you’ve got!
I’ve done it before. I had the most perfect class a few years ago and had them from Y4 to Y6 and it was amazing. Y6 felt like a breeze in comparison to normal years where you have to build those relationships and still fit everything in by May! Hoping I’ll get the same next year with this class 🙏
I’m taking my class up from Y4 to Y5 so hoping to just get cracking and back in to the positive routine we had last year. I want them to be happy to be back and excited about the coming year.
