🤝 The conclusion? Strengthening social rights requires continuous cooperation between EU institutions, national authorities and civil society, as well as integrated and inclusive policy responses.
A big thank you to all speakers and participants for the insightful discussions!

Key takeaway: social rights don’t implement themselves.
We need real action:
• remove barriers to access rights
• invest more in healthcare
• strengthen social dialogue
• link education to the green transition 🌱
• mainstream intersectionality
Last week at #PolicyDialogue2026 in Slovenia, we discussed the state of social rights in the country - strong performance in some areas, but important challenges remain.
🏠 Housing affordability
💼 Labour shortages&skills
🌍 Barriers for migrants
🏥 Gaps in healthcare & care systems
We also joined FEPS and FES Just Climate for a session on eco-social leadership with Manon Dufour and Prof. Mariana Mazzucato. Our SG Mikael Leyi closed with a clear call: stop reacting, start leading. 🌱
We left with renewed energy and a clear idea of how to fight back against reactionary forces.
We organised a migration panel with SOLIDAR members MPDL and ACPP, Laura Boldrini (Italian Parliament, PD), Esther Lynch (ETUC) and Nada AlHasham, a Palestinian refugee in Spain, asking hard questions about EU migration policy and the fight for a rights-based approach.

As the seasons change, let's keep in mind the role of the natural world in all our lives, and our responsibility to protect it.
Storytelling can be a powerful tool to bring about a more sustainable way of living, but how can we put it into action? 💭 (1/2)
4/ What happens in Italy doesn't stay in Italy. Similar trends in protest restrictions & criminalisation of solidarity are emerging across Europe.
We must act before this becomes the norm.
3/ SOLIDAR & ARCI called on the EU to:
→ Call out Italy in the Rule of Law Report
→ Strengthen the EU Civil Society Strategy
→ Establish a protection mechanism for activists & CSOs
→ Guarantee adequate funding in the next MFF
2/ 🗣️ As our colleague Martina Corti put it: "The EU must be concerned about the authoritarian drift affecting one of its founding countries, which risks undermining the values on which European democracy is founded."
1/ Italy has been downgraded in the CIVICUS Monitor from "narrowed" to "obstructed" civic space. Security decrees, criminalisation of activists & NGOs, and the use of spyware against journalists paint a troubling picture. 🚨
🧵 Yesterday at the European parliament, SOLIDAR & our member ARCI spoke at the event: "Freedom at Risk? The Case of Italy", an event hosted by MEPs from Greens/EFA, S&D & The Left on the state of civic space in Italy.
Here's what was said 👇

2/3 🧵 SOLIDAR welcomed the Fund's launch while calling for stronger ambition: 100% of ETS2 revenues should be directed toward socially targeted measures, and Member States must submit robust National Social Climate Plans without further delay.
