Starfield conceptually is begging for Fallout-style ending slides, especially since the player can run through universes, arranging them to see any ending you like. That would give weight to player actions while letting you explore outcomes.

It's deeply strange that Bethesda thought this was some kind of amazing or inspirational universe that represented some kind of great adventure for humanity.

This is "99% of humans died and a handful are barely holding on". Which is actually a great idea for a setting if you understand & use it!

The better films/shows wove this into the narrative, but even then it's seems difficult to keep things going indefinitely.

Sure, it's fun to watch Deadpool struggle with different Wolverines or for Spider-men to meet one another, but then where do you go with that?

The Multiverse stuff ran straight at two problems. First, nothing connected. Loki, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man & even Deadpool doing random multiverse stories that don't feel like the "same Multiverse" somehow.

But also, there's no bounds and hence no story to tell. It's the same characters and places.

Oooh, that makes more sense, I suppose.

Wow even the Super Tucano is out of budget? How screwed up are we?

Ah. I vaguely thought the issue was more in terms of loiter-and-respond time. Are the F-35's able to do effective close-range air support?

I don't really understand the unfriendly skies these days to be honest.

Serious question: The problem is that the A-10 is out of date but for whatever reason the AF just won't find a replacement?

I gather it's a divide between the omni-jet lovers (those planes are amazing) and the mono-focus crowd. But IIUC there's existing planes which are perfect for the role now?

Look, it's not like the Church would have some document laying about explaining, in excruciating detail, whether this or that war is considered "just".

Who would even come up with such a thing? Maybe we could get the Archbishop of Milan to look into it.

[/s if not obvious]

I could see that, especially with multiple paths to victory like subversion, conquest, puppet state/vassalage, alliance or even a peaceful incorporation of a united Earth into the space empire.

Even have the interface "lie" because there's context aliens don't understand.

On the Republican primary, it's Rick Jackson vs. Burt Jones with Raffensperger as a wild card. (Jones is the man who I do NOT want to win).

Democrats, it's Duncan, Bottoms & Thurmond. Bottoms has more name rec but Duncan+Thurmond more experience & endorsements.

But this is still really, really bad.

It means the national law enforcement is now engaging in deliberate, knowing political persecution on false grounds. Granted that's not actually new for them, but it's still really bad.

I'm in. Let's build a small mountain range west of Norfolk and south of Smithfield or so.

I have no rational reason for suggesting this other than we should bury replica viking weaponry there, maybe even a whole longship, just to mess with future archeologists.

Good news! It probably won't even get started.

There's about 50 engineering studies and plans that have to get done first no matter what Trump wants, even assuming he had the money. He does not; he has concept art.

If they legit push hard they may break ground by 2028. That's unlikely.

Also also, they have been really bad, measurably increasing prices and reducing competitiveness across American industries.

Curious if Space Marines & similar factions can "hold ground". Sure, they can hold select fortresses but even the largest Chapters can barely occupy a large city, let alone a planet or even a single Hive.

Also want to see build-your-own return for Chaos, rising from puny human to Daemon Prince LL.

Oooh play a Codex-Compliant chapter but there's a mid-game twist and you can choose to have been the Alpha Legion all along, suddenly switching over to a very different gameplay style.

Would make the game much more interesting & replayable. And are your Marines destroying or conquering...

Not meant as a joke: Is he short or is almost everyone else in that room quite tall?

Trump was right after all: I am indeed getting tired of all this winning.

I've long been a bit out of step with American trends as small cars "feel" so much better to drive.

On the rare occasions I must step behind the wheel of a larger vehicle it's like piloting a cargo liner. Everything seems sluggish and the road-handling muted.

I've never heard the term "gun crew" used in this context. Gotta admit it doesn't feel right even though it's sorta-accurate.

*Heavy Adeptus Mechanicus breathing*

I mean more than usual given that Pasqual hasn't bothered to silence his Bionic Lungs. It''s very inconsiderate of him.

I don't quite follow why people are saying "gyro meat". (You can turn most things into gyros).

I am not saying they are wrong, but that doesn't answer the question... and I am increasingly afraid of the answer.

It's ok, though. I somehow managed. My buddy is half man, half bat (and all freak) and apparently Harvard does teach courses in emergency forklift recovery. (Who knew?)

I have now played Dispatch, and while I am certainly late to the party on this one, but I have one thing to say: If your child is not Forklift certified, just... don't.

Or if you do, make sure you paid for the SDN Premium plan. You're gonna need it.

It took me a moment to even understand the depravity of that statement. I couldn't comprehend it at first. I wish to God I still didn't.

BREAKING: The U.S. bishops’ Committee on Doctrine just issued a formal statement defending Pope Leo XIV's teaching authority on just war doctrine — less than twelve hours after JD Vance told a Turning Point USA crowd the pope should “be careful” talking theology.

This is a serious escalation.
