Praise the gods for Datawrapper's live updating charts because I am so happy with all the data I'm going to be able to show on BBS and literally all I (and my helpful minions) need to do on the day is plug declaration numbers into a Google Sheet
Look I just like it when numbers go brrrr okay
We found the real gem and only two more people had to be knocked unconscious from the horror battle for it, the DM was "not expecting us to go into combat this session" then proceeded to ruin our lives for making combat happen
Everything is fine I am okay and not lying flat on the ground
THE DM EQUIPPED GUARDS WITH GUNS??? AND NAT 20'D SHOOTING ME
I am putting his head in the oven
THE GEM WE ARE HEISTING IS A FAKR
Our Barbarian's giant badger (from a bag of tricks) has just savagely attacked an old lady playing cards, as the plan goes sideways, oh dear oh dear
"YOU MADE ALLAN TURN INTO A MASSIVE BOOBY TIEFLING"
Our heist plan was SO CLEVER and going SO WELL until that discovery, which, again, I was unaware of until confronted by the mysterious employees and I have simply "attacked a circus cage to release a lion" and I may be about to be mangled by guards
Oh dear oh dear oh dear
DnD: we are doing a complex casino heist including me disguising myself as one of the Tiefling staff and sneaking into the employee only area
Out in the main hall someone else has realised they are all also disguised but in a way that affects the viewer
So I am unknowlingly not actually disguised
Obligatory Bracken photos
He of course dropped the most heinous fart seconds later and is no longer being cuddled
I'm sorry he's 63?!
I get that there's always going to be a need for a bridging approach that may not be as radical as angry queers like me want but there is a very large difference between "moving the conversation elsewhere" and "lavishing praise on quite frankly the community's biggest current opponent"
Sorry but my hot take on this in the current context is it's a bit like talking about Viktor Orbán as if he was still the plucky young liberal challenger of the 90's and not the wannabe despot he ended up. People don't get a pass to be atrocious because they were once not atrocuous.
It was especially funny in a Scottish context, like my guys Scotland might as well have been independent during the Corbyn years for how disconnected our politics was from England, even our Tory revival had fuck all to do with anything at UK level, it was 100% NO TO THE NASTY NATS INDYREF 2 driven!
Okay that's exactly what it's like. Remember the period where you couldn't be like "idk sure I'd rather him than whatever cartoon villian is in charge of the Tories this week but honestly not sure Corbyn is the messiah" without folk descending on you in absolute fury and declaring you a Tory
I will find a way to make you my walking billboard yet, I mean, give you a fun little fashion accessory
Look I'm not saying this was a well timed purchase but I am saying I handed out the last of the previous bag to various pals of @ulycia.bsky.social this evening, nothing pumps up the auld Election Nerd Account ego than a bunch of Also Nerds
Spring has truly sprung, what a nice evening to cycle in the warm sunshine along the Kelvin to a party
Oh wait different respondent, sorry, my brain is FRIED at the moment (due to said website)
As a tongue in cheek aside, you know that second chart is from my website, right? 😜 I'm quite familiar with the polling numbers!
A campaign would fundamentally change the dynamic and I don't see a final result being 50/50. I don't know which direction it goes in though, being honest.
Rare to say this of otherwise careful Swinney but this even has shades of the "if we just game the voting system to get 100+ Pro-Indy MSPs we can basically declare UDI" lot - everyone, UK Govt and International Community included, can see the total vote numbers, the seat tally won't bamboozle them
If you genuinely want Independence the last thing you should be doing, at a time when SNP have crashed, Greens have surged, and the multi-party system is strengthening overall at least in vote % terms, is hand your foes the narrative that The Only Real Majority for Independence is an SNP Majority!
See also going really, really heavy on "SNP majority = mandate for IndyRef". Both are possibly very good messages for turning out Pro-Indy but otherwise low-interest voters. But both are absolutely terrible for your post-election position if you fail to achieve that very difficult majority.
However the Bar Chart fans include illustrious academic ScotPol Posters so I think bar wins
Accidentally turned BBS into a test of the proposition that if you ask people for their opinions on something unimportant and frivolous (in this case "do you like bar or donut charts more") you will get a near-even split and come away from it with no clear sense of preference
*Joanna Cherry conspiracy voice* If Nicola Sturgeon hadn't killed the Independence movement, Lidl wouldn't have been out of stock of Empire Biscuits when I went in just now with the specific aim of using my Free Sweet Bakery Treat coupon to get one
And whilst it's certainly true that the Independence camp feels totally adrift and directionless, *the same is true of the Pro-Union side*: that's why we're sat roughly 50/50! Vast quantities of Nothing Is Happening On The Constitution Because Too Much Is Happening Otherwise In The World!
The thing that so many, sorry, Independence Bampots, utterly fail to accept or acknowledge is that there is no "strategy" that could have made rapid progress on achieving it in the immediate aftermath of losing the referendum. Voters didn't and don't want another and couldn't be made to!
