Small new old stock wing repair for a Renault 9.
A small storage dent, bang in the middle of the wing, creased the top edge and caved the side. Put back in shape ready for a skim of filler and primer.

In a poor state, needing much TLC.
What is your favourite tool/s in the box?
Mines hammers, cant have enough of them. Endup having to modify some to suit the job.
Heres a Whitehouse w-91 chipping hammer modified in to a long reach cross pean hammer.
Probably use a chisel if you have 3 hands instead.
What a beaut! Could do with one of these. π
Cool reliable little motors, I got a soft spot for the old Datsun's, the rustier the better π―π€ untill I get my trusty welder on it.
Cut out the rust about there, start transferring patterns to new metal and shaping repair sections.
Some thickkk metal in these s2000 sils and jacking points.
Just need some milk to go with the flakes. Breakfast sorted.
The near side! Some crispness hidden behind there, let's investigate.

Hi from under the ocean of rustππ,
Pick this up where I left it last year!
Just finished the metalwork and underside restoration on @retrorides Datsun b310, ready for some paint.
If you bought the base model, you saved the most money, but they would never let you into CPAC.

The Apprentice, ready to do some cutting.
This section can be bought as an aftermarket panel.- quite a good pressing.
Prepped it for plug welding, some weld through primer and welded in place.

Some more upside down welding and grinding. This area of the car is like new, no more rot!
Some zinc rich primer and ready for the lower inner arch/wheel house section to go back in.

Formed the lower sill section that was rotten, a splash of weld through primer and ready for welding in.
#Honda #restoration.
Thank you. π Yeah that jacking plate is thickkk
Remember the repair sections I made in the previous post? All welded in, jacking plate - checkout that fusion on the back side of the panel.

All these folded and formed from like for like thickens of sheet metal. Some 2mm 2.5 others 1.6 mm and 1.2 mm
Some more up side down welding. Because I love it not. π
All the rotten bits cut out, Surface rust mechanically cleaned and naturalized. Ready for new metal.
Just have to make the repair panels first.
Driver side sil rear, Cutting back some previous repairs and unpicking layers until I find some good metal to start rebuilding from.

Well that escalated.... Just a before pic to show the hidden scabby bits behind the plastic trims, but who would have guessed it's that far gone?
The wheel house area that caps the end of the sill is removed to carry out internal repairs.
Some parts are salvageable, like this bumper bracket. Looks like it's been sat at the bottom of a bucket with water.
Some shot blasting action and the results speak for themselves.
It's pitted a little, but the bracket is heavy guage so it can go back on.
Given you the bug for forgotten group 5 Japanese racing cars then ππ
Thank you π
Trucks count?
How bout an Elan?
One of the best looking functional estates imo!
