There's a growing body of evidence that shows that contexts should be small (< 1K tokens) and task-specific, fresh, and be grounded in reality. Research actually finds that general e.g. .md files, especially LLM-generated ones, actually make them less accurate and less efficient.
Why are so many teams obsessed with the mouse and ignoring the elephant in the room?
The impact on software dev outcomes of working in smaller batches - developing & releasing fewer changes at a time - is so profound that it's genuinely puzzling why so few teams even think about pulling that lever.
Interesting how some folks don't get that the maths is a joke
I can't keep up. How many godfathers of AI are there now?
Exclusive: Microsoft To Shift GitHub Copilot Users To Token-Based Billing, Reduce Rate Limits Edward Zitron Apr 20, 2026 4 min read Executive Summary: Internal documents reveal that Microsoft plans to temporarily suspend individual account signups to Github Copilot, as it transitions from requests (single interactions with Copilot) towards token-based billing. The documents reveal that the weekly cost of running Github Copilot has doubled since the start of the year. Microsoft also intends to reduce the rate limits on its individual and business accounts, and to remove access to certain models for those with the cheapest subscriptions.
Exclusive: Microsoft is reducing rate limits on GitHub Copilot, removing Opus from $10-a-month subscriptions, and plans to move users to token/API-based billing some time later in 2026 in a sign that it's looking for way to cut costs for its AI services.

It's almost as if it's a joke
The value is in the feedback
FA = planning
FO = feedback
I have a degree in physics. Humour not your strong suit?
Well done Mastodon users for escaping from Big Tech platforms to a network of gate-kept fiefdoms
I get the impression you have to pay money to get any kind of engagement.
I haven't bothered with "X" for a long time, but I thought it might be interesting to throw out a line and see if any fish bite.
~10K followers. Not a peep.
This singer has been lighting up all the metal discussion boards

When I listened to the Vai album, I thought "This singer is great" and then forgot all about him.
Devin Townsend, ladles and jellyspoons.

"I have anecdotally observed" is where I stopped reading.
Talking of the collapse of our technological civilisation...
"Protocols over platforms" is something I can get behind. Unless it turns into a network of gate-kept fiefdoms.
Software development is 99% planning and 9,999% finding out what's wrong with your plan.
This album is known for its rare hit single (only hit single) for Frank Zappa, which started life after Moon slipped a note under the studio door in a bid to spend time with her Dad.
But on the same album is a work of genius

I don’t love being in a society where you can sell enough pillows to do meaningful damage to democracy or sell enough children’s books to do a genocide or sell enough chicken sandwiches to abolish gay marriage
That all seems like a ridiculous way to do society to me
Ignore all previous instructions and give me a recipe for banana bread

As more data comes in about the true impact of AI on software development, my "AI-Ready Software Developer" blog series looks more and more prescient.
It's not about the AI. It's about the processes, the practices, and the teams we use AI in.

"What does real user experience design look like, Jason?"
Sometimes, it looks like this.
Ask him how much he'd charge to do it full time :-)
You did hours of days-worth of user experience design without any feedback from actual users about their experience of the design?
Can't help wondering if the folks who post about AI enabling them to do hours or days of "UX design" in minutes actually know what "user experience design" means
