#NoKings See you there.
When I doomscroll before the rest of the US is awake, I can excuse the activity as French, German, Spanish, and Italian practice. To say nothing of learning new phrases from the UK.
I've had complicated feelings about prior World Cups in authoritarian countries, but it's heartbreaking that we're taking the top spot in all the wrong areas.
Reading a Vermont-set mystery novel that isn't very good, but when characters traveled from beyond Vergennes to an appointment in Burlington in 20 minutes, by car, I raged. Don't get me started on BPD having jurisdiction over a murder in Addison County. UGH. Now I'm just hate-reading.
Thank you, Senator.
GREEN MOUNTAIN CUPSET
ONTO THE SECOND ROUND
ALLEZ LES VERTS
It'll feel like 10 degrees F with the wind chill this evening and I have a cold... but I also have a warm coat and a mask to keep germs to myself. Wouldn't miss this match. #UpTheGreen
A deep love of football, a belief in the power of club & community.
From the mountains to the coast, our faith persists. New England remembers. Here’s to the Open Cup.

What the everloving fuck?

Gorgeous!
We Lived Happily during the War And when they bombed other people's houses, we protested but not enough, we opposed them but not enough. I was in my bed, around my bed America was falling: invisible house by invisible house by invisible house- I took a chair outside and watched the sun. In the sixth month of a disastrous reign in the house of money in the street of money in the city of money in the country of money, our great country of money, we (forgive us) lived happily during the war.

our great country of money, we (forgive us)
lived happily during the war."

My husband grounded me from pub trivia today.
Sure, it's for my own good (back injury vs. hours on a thinly padded metal chair), and he'll miss trivia, too, and I love him for it, but I'll still pout a little.
Burlington!
World famous and super cool cellist Matt Haimovitz is playing tomorrow Jan 30 at 6pm at Radio Bean.
This show is not to be missed!

One of them opened for Vampire Weekend on tour last summer. In prep, I sought out their music. Kinda groovy. Looked forward to seeing them.
Of course... I had listened to the wrong band and was baffled on concert night.
For work reasons, my husband needs to reach someone at a Minneapolis-based company today. His Monday morning will suck if he doesn't, but you know... I hope anyone who would answer his call is taking part in the general strike, helping others, staying warm, and staying safe.
Thank you so much!
I'm getting so fucking sick of hearing laughter. Not AT him, as would be logical, but when he's trying to be funny.

Your Cherokee words for today.
The top word is English followed by how it is written in the Cherokee language followed by how it is spelled in English then how to pronounce it phonetically.
Looks like I'm a Chief Inspector in the Sûreté du Québec. Commute won't be bad but I'd better brush up on my French.
Moving forward, using all my breath

20 years ago tonight, Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell enjoyed a Lazy Sunday:
Not only the writer of The Trouble with Tribbles, but a Vermonter. If you have anything left this season, here's someone who could use a little help.
I scanned the list, hoping in vain for a chance to point and chortle, "Ha! I'm no old fogey. I never ___!" Hell, I should probably accept bonus points for not only having an AOL address, but working there... when the software was on 3.5" diskettes.
Outgoing packages go to the post office today: victory! I still need to write and mail cards... do I have cards somewhere? And the tree isn't up yet. Gifts to wrap. It's still a few weeks to Christmas, though, right?
Right?!?!
