So satisfying. Doing things with group instances is my new jam in Maya.
Finished with the modelling.
Time to wrap up some uvs and start putting him together in unreal already!

But here I found the original asset... so not sure.
Some decimated meshes I see.
Maybe the moto: if you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all, can be applied here. For me at least.
Unpopular opinion. I got to play the game a bit more to have an actual say... However, Maybe I'll make a you tube video to point everything thats so wrong with it. I've turned into a total snob. And I have turned into being so critical...
It's hard to tell due to the resolution of the image. But sure.
Let me see.....
Sorry about the HDR blow-out. But these hinges look like they have been left out for the texturing! Is it me? or is the metal painted that way? I do not think so, because the handle looks right. The colours look like material map IDs.
This might be a bit of a random burn... but the water in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is worse than Mario Sunshine. It looks like a gigantic puddle. The scale and frequency is so bad.
And while we at it, the way the world has been constructed, it is so unbelievable.
I have finished the sculpting stage of my chest!
Next is preparing a low poly version with some UVs to pass the detail across.
This is a few millions of polis so it is certainly not game ready yet.
I got a hard surface model ready to sculpt some details in Zbrush, Pretty excited! I have prepared this chest for a high poly to low poly excercise to use with Marmoset Toolbag to teach how to bake using bake groups.
Also maybe my only fan.
You're honestly my no 1 fan. You are super cool.
I haven't done any art in the past seven days! I need to do some as soon as these festivities are over.
@hymil.bsky.social Mate are you obsessed with me ๐ share something goooooood! I want to see your blue print at action ๐ฅ๐ค๐ฆ๐จ๏ธ also why a bear?
I made a new Modeling tip in Maya, how to use the Bridge tool. I am getting closer at using more advanced or mid-range level tips and techniques. However if there is anything you would like to learn, let me know and I'll make a video specially for you! (Maya, Painter, Zbrush)

I have released a new tutorial video.
youtu.be/7trUBFDdxPc?...
This is about the "filling hole" Maya command, but also I cover how to fix the N-Gon after it has been created, and I come with a few techniques on this.
Next I shall release a video about the Bridge command!
I have thankfully just discovered #Indika And it is such a bold, unique and beautiful game. I have only played a few hours and I do not want to spoil too much about it.
That said, you do play as a Nun, that has a voice in her head, and travels in the world. However there is a little bit more.
Well. It was today years old that I found out that Navi is called navi "Because she Navigates!" Yikes.
I wanted to showcase some of the work that my students have been doing in the past few years at AIE. It is so nice to see after a couple of years what these amazing people can achieve. Link below!

I got a retopology and an anatomy pure ref that I formulated for my students so I can be more efficient when providing feedback. Remind me tomorrow and I'll shoot it off your way.
It's working well Jack. I know that you might not want feedback. However,
try to have more quad (square like topology) across the mesh with a consistent topology size. The neck is too narrow You can always do bucket topology to increase the density when it gets closer to the facial structure.
If you have seen the movie, Did you experience this? Or am I extremely picky and critical? Like I felt like pausing the movie to get out a notepad, to make notes. They were some shots where the lighting was good and it did not mess my "where to look" for the composition. But it was a mess!
I watched yesterday the new animated Lord of the Rings movie: youtu.be/gCUg6Td5fgQ?...
And I had a huge problem with its art direction. Most shots, every character had this intensified thick continuous "rim" lighting (similar to what What If does) and it breaks massively the composition...
I am on episode 5 and I have been really enjoying it. But I know what you mean. It almost feels like a fast paced, fast forward show. A lot is happening all at once.
I have been doing some block-out in Unreal 5, but also some pre-production planning stuff for a Rock Pilgrimage

Playing Ocarina of Time was so amazing in the first few hours. I'll never forget hearing the song start while the moon moves up. I wished I could go back to that moment to relive it again.
I am surprised you still do not have one set up.
I would recommend a game that is easy to beat and easy to get into, very simple game-play, but still high impact and engagement. Journey is certainly up there.
Also I am not super happy with the tree either. I might repaint it? but If I am going to sculpt it anyways, I might as well just jump right into that. I want to make a white bark kind of tree with a few leaves.
