Just checking, it's now ok to flee your homeland, because you're afraid for your safety, and seek refuge in another Country?

Glad we've cleared that up. Let's hear no more about immigration and refugees then.

Angela Rayner accidentally pays less tax than she should have, resigns, and the media gives her hell.

Nigel Farage deliberately pays less tax than he should have, and the media gives him a free pass.

That, right there, is the problem.

Sir, With Reform's victory in the Runcorn & Helsby by-election, a process that threatens to result in autocracy has begun. History tells us that all autocracies begin with populist movements making undeliverable promises.
When it is clear that the promises haven't materialised, blame is applied to everyone other than the populist. First the forces against populism are blamed, then the media and eventually the judiciary. We are seeing this in an accelerated form in the United States and will shortly be seeing it in the UK.
The pattern never varies, from 1930s Germany to modern-day Russia. It starts with one voter wishing for a painless means to achieve the unachievable, instead of accepting that difficult decisions are painful.
Voters who supported Reform will be the ones most likely to suffer.

Sir, Nigel Farage has attributed his party's success in Thursday's local and parliamentary elections to worsening illegal immigration. This from the man who repeatedly assured the electorate that Brexit would result in our being able to take back control of our borders. As always, Farage appears to have the answer to everything but the solution to nothing.

Farage and Reform whip up people’s prejudices, then offer to get rid of what they hate.Their power feeds off ignorance and hatred. They make people angrier about the stuff they fear, then promise to fix it. Of course they won’t. But they know who to tell you to blame when they fail.

I hovered over this in the charity shop recently. I decided against as didn’t want to sully my joy of Catch 22. Correct decision?
