TDSB to end policy that saw high-needs schools get extra staff The move to a model based on enrolment, class size requirements and union agreements no longer factors in higher-needs schools that got extra staff.

Students and teachers will get little to no support, students’ frustration will lead to behaviour issues, teachers go on stress leave…

Lower income areas will experience this at greater rates

People harmed by Canadian companies should be able to seek remedy in Canadian courts.

“This ruling sends the wrong signal to Canadian companies that they are shielded from being held to account in Canada for harm they may have caused overseas."

Ontario is underfunding public health care—and private health care is the beneficiary - CCPA $3 billion dollar funding gap drives privatization and downloads costs onto Ontarians

The Financial Accountability Office estimates that $6.4b in new spending is required in 2026-27 just to maintain 2024-25 service levels

But budget 2026 only adds $3.4b in additional spending, which leaves the health care system short by $3b

Worker co-ops rising in the USA Worker co-ops and democratic workplaces in the USA have grown 34% since 2020 while more than doubling their workforce

Worker cooperatives are growing. As democratic workplaces, they offer an alternative form of organization where each worker has one vote.

If you are pro-democracy, remember to support democracy in our economy. Combat the concentration of wealth and power by supporting democratic businesses.

Former Ford government staffer challenges watchdog order for Greenbelt interview under oath | Globalnews.ca Ontario's Information and Privacy Commissioner has been trying to compel a former senior government staffer to turn over personal emails related to the Greenbelt decision-making.

The Amato file went silent for months.

It turned out, behind the scenes, the IPC had lost patience and used its most powerful tool to compel the former staffer to be examined under oath.

He refused, seeking a judicial review of the demand. #onpoli

We aren’t exactly dealing with a stable genius. Rather he’s a vindictive bully.

If, after Ontario ran those Reagan tariff ads, DT knew he could ask a tech giant for electronic dirt on the Ontario Premier … what then?

Anyone running with this angle? B/c this IS a problem.

2. We know big tech cooperates with the US regime without court orders.

Given the actions of Doug Ford have ticked off DT, who is to say the regime won’t request access to the accounts of DoFo, Cabinet, and staffers if he ticks him off again?

Read the whole thread. But two things came immediate to mind.

1. I’m not sure which services these folks are using but they are not hack proof. Neither are government systems. But Gmail, Microsoft, etc won’t know Doug Ford from Doug Ford and won’t have any measures to protect one vs the other.

This is BAD, folks. Ford not only wants to hide his cell phone logs, he also wants to hide private emails about the Greenbelt.

Remember that scandal?

This is egregious. We need to push back against this LOUDLY.

Pls call this feedback line & say, "NO!".

A black-and-white studio portrait of a family posed together. A man with a mustache sits on the left holding a small child, while a woman in a dark dress and hat sits on the right with another young child beside her. Two older children stand behind them, and another child sits in front. The group wears formal clothing typical of the period. Decorative studio elements appear in the background, and the photographer’s imprint and location text are visible along the bottom of the image.

There was a time when Hawaiians came to Canada to work for the Hudson's Bay Company.
There is a theory that the word "canuck" comes from the term for these workers.
It is a little known part of the long history of the HBC.
This is the story.

In one of the first scientific reviews on the emerging concept of “AI psychosis,” researchers expressed real concern about the possibility that chatbots can exacerbate delusions, while maintaining reservations about the idea it can “cause” psychosis in people who aren’t already predisposed.

Because capitalism rewards the worst kind of people - those who are willing to destroy the environment, treat people like shit, sell faulty products - all in the name of beating out competitors who may have a weakness in the form of an ounce of humanity. These are not people who want a better world.
