A four panel comic. In panel 1, there's an image of a closeup on the head of a yellow morph timber rattlesnake, with text above it that says "Behold the snake: Cunning, cruel, and bloodthirsty, it embodies evil and sin.
Who knows what malevolent thoughts lurk in its mind?" In panel 2, the snake is zoomed out slightly, and a thought bubble rises above its head with three dots inside it. In panel 3, we're zoomed out more to see the whole snake curled up on a rock with a colorful background behind it, and there's a thought bubble rising from its head that says "Mmm warm sun." In panel 4, we're zoomed out even more, and the snake is sitting on a rock at the top of a hill with green grass and trees, a vibrant background of mountains and lakes behind it, and a bright blue sky with a golden cloud and birds flying. The snake is thinking "Nice day."
Behold the snake.

Yes, Swiss scientist Fritz Zwicky coined the term “dark matter” which is impressive, but he also coined the term “spherical bastard” to describe people who are bastards no matter which way you look at them, and I think that should be celebrated more.

NDIS savings redirected to aged care
Tom McIlroy
Tom McIlroy
The health minister, Mark Butler, will detail savings from the NDIS on Wednesday, and reveal that some of the savings will go to help older Australians with the provision of essential services like showering, dressing support and continence management.
Labor is winding back elements of its aged care reforms, removing out-of-pocket costs for non clinical services in the Support at Home scheme.
The government has faced criticism from advocates for elderly people, experts and aged care providers, who said these personal care services are essential for people’s independence and ability to stay at home.
The minister for aged care, Sam Rae, said the changes will be effective from 1 October this year.
Showering, dressing, continence care – these aren’t optional extras. They’re the basics of ageing with dignity, and no older Australian should miss out because of cost.
Older Australians, their families and providers told us these services needed to be protected. We’ve listened, and we’re acting.
Don't you fucking dare pit one group of disabled Australians against another

Taking from disabled people to give to people in aged care is a cynical political exercise from Labor.
Pitting people who genuinely need care against each other while leaving $17 billion in the pockets of gas corporations they’re too cowardly to tax is shameful.

Bush mint can also be used as a natural insect repellant. River mint is closest to the culinary mint you're used to :3

I went and saw Project Hail Mary.
A guy came in with his service dog and the dog sat there the whole time just concentrating on the movie.
Afterwards I told the guy I was amazed your dog watched the movie like that.
He replied, me too especially because he hated the book.

Boise took its Pride flag down. But new art has popped up at City Hall. What it cost
“The flag is not our only form of expression,” a Council Member previously said.
The famous Andor line is that "tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle." Here is a perfect example of that through malicious compliance: Idaho forced the city of Boise to remove its Pride flags. So the city painted rainbows everywhere else.

A male Common Grackle viewed from the front. His head and breast are several shades of blue metallics.
Photo of a male Common Grackle perched on a post. The sunlight has highlighted the rainbow of metallic colors all over his body.
Another photo of the same Common Grackle with his head turned, showing off some more of his amazing colors.
Closeup of the male Common Grackle’s neck, back, and shoulder showing off the metallic blues, greens, golds, and purples of his feathers.
There’s nothing common about a Common Grackle in the sun in springtime. ##birds spring #blackbirds

Description
10 years ago, 18-year old Josh Park-Fing died at his forced labour Work for the Dole site in Toowoomba.
Despite a court finding that Josh's Work for the Dole site did not meet basic safety standards, neither the government nor his for-profit privately owned employment service provider NEATO were held accountable.
Josh's family weren't even provided normal workers compensation as Josh was technically not an 'employee'.
10-years on, the lessons from Josh's death have not be been learnt.
The program is still punitive and dangerous.
The Albanese government still forces hundreds of thousands of unemployed workers to attend dangerous, pointless, and punitive Work for the Dole activities every year or face being permanently cut off their unemployment benefit, which is more than $200 per fortnight below the poverty line.

Also this isn't limited to just nudity and sex. A lot of these porn bans consider depictions of queer relationships, trans people, and gender nonconformity as "pornographic."
By trying to protect only yourself, you are harming so many others

'AI Is African Intelligence': The Workers Who Train AI Are Fighting Back
Kenyan workers are still the underpaid labor behind AI training, moderation, and sex chatbots. The Data Labelers Association is fighting back.
I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out:
